About the Opportunity
The Interim & Delegated Services team provides interim or ongoing ADA/504 services, as well as consulting, coaching, and mentoring assistance to schools and organizations. These services are designed to assist clients with their equity goals and with their compliance obligations under the ADA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and other related federal and state laws and/or associated guidance. Team members may be assigned to provide one or more services to one or more institutions at the same time.
Under the supervision of the Director of Interim & Delegated Services or their designee, the Senior Associate's primary responsibility is to provide to schools and organizations with assistance with identifying and documenting accommodations under the ADA, 504, and related statutes on an interim or ongoing basis assistance as well as to develop and deliver training and education regarding accommodations practices, obligations and best practices under the ADA or Section 504, pregnancy, religious accommodations, and related topics.
What We Are Looking For
We are seeking experienced ADA and Section 504 professionals to support organizations or institutions in advancing accessibility, compliance, and inclusive practices. Individuals in these roles serve as trusted advisors and subject matter experts, helping clients navigate complex accommodation processes, employee relations matters, and institutional compliance responsibilities.
This opportunity is ideal for professionals with a demonstrated history of managing complex ADA and Section 504 compliance matters in educational or organizational settings. The successful candidate will have extensive experience interpreting and applying federal disability law to ensure equitable access and appropriate accommodations for students, employees, and community members. They will have served in roles requiring direct oversight of disability accommodation processes, including interactive engagement with individuals and departments to determine reasonable accommodations and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
In addition, the candidate will bring 5+ years of hands-on experience administering workers' compensation and FMLA leave programs, including end-to-end case management, coordination with medical providers, return-to-work planning, and collaboration with HR, legal, and supervisory staff to ensure consistent and compliant leave administration. Their background will include managing complex workplace matters such as employee relations issues, medical restrictions, accommodation disputes, and cross-functional coordination in high-volume environments.
This experience will be complemented by a strong ability to prioritize competing demands in fast-paced settings while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a consistent record of balancing multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously, while delivering thoughtful, equitable, and legally sound outcomes.
Summary of Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Director of Interim & Delegated Services or their designee:

• Act as an institution's ADA and/or 504 Coordinator or Accommodations Specialist for large or complex offices or as directed by the Director of Interim Delegated Services.
• Assume responsibility and oversight of an institution's accommodations services in accordance with the assigned role, and an institution's policies and procedures.
• Respond to all requests for accommodation in accordance with an institution's policies and procedures.
• Draft essential correspondence related to processing of accommodation requests.
• Conduct and document interactive dialogues and processes.
• Develop and deliver trainings related to ADA and/or 504 obligations.
• Assist clients in improving the overall functioning of their ADA and/or 504 departments.
• Serve as an institution's subject matter expert on compliance and best practices related to ADA and 504.
• Stay abreast of regulations and statutes relating to discrimination, retaliation, harassment, sexual misconduct, and gender-based violence including, but not limited to, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the ADA, and related state and/or federal laws.
• Properly maintain all client data according to each client's expectations and standards.
• Follow policies or procedures as set forth by client institutions, including timelines.
• Adhere to Grand River Solutions standards for Interim Delegated Services.
• Provide guidance to more junior GRS staff assisting with the response and oversight processes for clients' ADA and/or 504 offices.
• Under the supervision of the Director of Interim & Delegated Services, or the Director of Consulting Services, assist clients with drafting and revising policies, procedures, and templates while ensuring that all documents reflect current federal requirements, state law requirements, and best practices.

Additionally,

• Work with confidential and highly sensitive information and maintain confidentiality in compliance with client school policies, procedures, and state and federal regulations.
• Maintain an appropriate professional demeanor at all times.
• Complete other tasks and projects as assigned.
• Occasional travel may be required.

Skills

• Strong knowledge of ADA and Section 504 regulations, including workplace accommodations and interactive processes.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience with digital and built environment regulations.
• Understand FMLA requirements, Workers Compensation, Pregnancy Disability Leave, and the intersections of each with the ADA.
• Ability to manage multiple institutions or complex caseloads simultaneously while balancing competing priorities and deadlines.
• Experience managing employee relations, workplace investigations, and sensitive HR matters involving confidential medical, disability, and personnel information.
• Skilled in advising managers and senior leaders on policy interpretation, risk mitigation, and consistent application of HR procedures and compliance standards.
• Strong conflict resolution, mediation, and consensus-building skills across diverse stakeholder groups, including faculty, staff, students, and external partners.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including drafting professional correspondence and facilitating collaborative discussions.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple cases in fast-paced environments while maintaining accuracy and documentation standards.
• Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and update policies, procedures, and compliance documentation.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe) and Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs).
• Experience using case management systems (e.g., Aim, Maxient, iSight, Advocate) for data entry, tracking, and reporting.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively while fostering inclusive environments across diverse populations.
• Flexible, resilient, and solutions-oriented, with willingness to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Requirements
Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as an ADA and/or Section 504 Coordinator/Director across two or more institutions, including at least one large or complex institution.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in Human Resources, Employee Relations, or HR Compliance, including conducting employee accommodations and sensitive workplace matters.
• 2+ years of supervisory or management experience.
• Experience applying HR policies and ensuring compliance with federal and state employment laws, including ADA and Section 504 regulations.
• Experience conducting interactive dialogue processes related to disability accommodations and workplace solutions.
• Experience developing and delivering ADA and/or Section 504 training programs.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience required.
• Master's degree in a related field or Juris Doctor (JD), or equivalent experience preferred.

Work Environment:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Travel for in-person trainings or when assigned to a client that may require on-campus presence.

Salary
GRS has different base pay ranges for different locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistent with different geographic markets. Compensation offered will depend on various factors in addition to location of primary residence, such as job level, complexity and responsibility required by the role, knowledge, job duties and requirements, relevant experience, and skills.
The pay range for this position in the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, and New York City is $136,500 - $168,000 or those who are elsewhere in California, the range is $84,000 - $152,300. For those based in Colorado, the range is $84,000 - $152,300. For those based in Washington State, the range is $84,000 - $152,300. As noted above, all of these pay ranges depend upon specific location, knowledge, relevant experience, background, and skills.
