The Overnight Freight Team plays a vital role by receiving, organizing, and stocking merchandise to ensure the store is prepared before customers arrive. As a community-based company, we take pride in maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient store environment.

About the Overnight Freight Department Manager Position

Bi-Mart is looking for a dependable and motivated leader to join our Overnight Freight Team. The Overnight Freight Department Manager leads the overnight freight crew, coordinates nightly operations, and ensures merchandise is received, stocked, and displayed accurately and efficiently.

This is a working leadership position. In addition to leading the overnight team, the Overnight Freight Department Manager works alongside team members to unload delivery trucks, organize inventory, stock merchandise, maintain an orderly backroom, and prepare the sales floor for the next business day. Success in this role requires strong organization, problem-solving skills, and the ability to motivate a team while maintaining a safe, productive work environment.

Person in Charge (PIC) Assignment

The Person in Charge (PIC) is a secondary work assignment available to Overnight Freight Department Managers. When scheduled as the PIC, you will serve as the Manager on Duty and provide leadership for overall store operations. Your schedule will flex between your Overnight Freight Department Manager responsibilities and your PIC assignment. When you are not scheduled as the PIC, store management will assume PIC responsibilities, and you will resume your regular department leadership duties.

PIC responsibilities may include:

  • Serving as the Manager on Duty and providing leadership and direction to store team members.
  • Receiving and verifying store shipments.
  • Supporting a profitable store by controlling expenses, maintaining in-stock conditions, and ensuring promotional and basic merchandise is presented according to company standards.
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and well-organized store while helping identify maintenance concerns.
  • Enforcing company policies and ensuring compliance with safety, and operational procedures.
  • Helping reduce inventory shrink through loss prevention and operational best practices.
  • Protecting company assets and helping minimize potential liabilities.
  • Leading by example through professionalism, teamwork, and accountability.
  • Overseeing daily store activities, including freight processing, merchandising, stocking, and other operational assignments.

Additional Compensation: Employees receive an additional $2.00 per hour while scheduled and working as the Person in Charge (PIC).

Qualifications include, but are not limited to:

  • Dependable with excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and support a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to delegate work while ensuring tasks are completed safely, accurately, and efficiently.
  • Ability to safely lift, carry, and move merchandise throughout the shift.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a willingness to lead by example.

Experience:

Previous experience as a department lead, cashier, sales associate, bagger, warehouse worker, or other retail positions are a plus.

Prior experience at retail brands such as Target, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Fred Meyer, Safeway, and Albertsons is also an asset!


Schedule

This is an overnight position that operates outside of normal business hours. Team members typically work four 10-hour overnight shifts per week. Scheduled days and hours may vary by location and business needs.

Shift schedules may also vary based on workload and operational requirements.
