Asset Protection Associate

Responsibilities

Asset Protection

  • Communicate with leadership regarding encounters and investigations
  • Maintain a professional relationship with local authorities and law enforcement agencies
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and other local retailers to identify organized retail crime threats
  • Assist leadership with cash handling and transfers
  • Observe customers and associates for potential acts of theft or fraud
  • Taking appropriate action to prevent theft, apprehending individuals engaged in theft activity when prevention is not effective
  • Conducting surveillance and apprehension of external theft suspects in compliance with company ethical standards and apprehension guidelines
  • Monitor video via CCTV and conduct on-site interviews
  • Maintaining all apprehension and investigation records according to company standards
  • Developing and maintaining knowledge and use of CCTV surveillance equipment
  • Assisting in monitoring store compliance with company policies and procedures relating to theft deterrence, safety, and operational controls, as assigned by the supervisor
  • Maintain a high visible deterrent to crime and positively influence the security incident rate as well as assist with inventory controls

Safety

  • Help mitigate security risks to provide a safer environment for employees and customers
  • Welcome all customers, visitors, and vendors professionally and assist them in locating staff within the stores
  • Issue electric handicapped shopping carts to customers and assist in obtaining wheelchairs and shopping carts
  • Examine and properly tag property being brought into the stores including personal property, equipment for service, and firearms
  • Watch facilities and parking areas on foot. Direct traffic during special events or heavy customer traffic, while enforcing parking regulations
  • Make regularly scheduled floor and exterior walks to ensure the safety and security of the customers and facility
  • Complete monthly reports on safe or non-safe practices found on the sales floor or backstocks

First Responder

  • Help customers and staff with vehicle break-downs and lock-outs and retrieve shopping carts from parking areas
  • React as necessary and assist in handling any situations – shoplifting, medical emergencies, and inclement weather
  • Ability to work assigned schedules which may include varied hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED College graduate preferred
  • Proven track record of strong communication and organization skills
  • Preference for candidates with prior Loss prevention (2-3 years)
  • Currently certified or willing to become certified in CPR and OC (Oleoresin Capsicum aka pepper spray) foam deployment

Schedule

Ability to work nights, weekends, and/or early morning hours based on business needs. Schedule: Typically scheduled 1-2 nights/week (5:00pm-9:00pm) and must be available two weekends per month - with varied shifts during out business hours of: 9:30am-9:00pm Monday-Friday, 9:00am-7:00pm Saturday & 11:00am-6:00pm Sunday. Schedule may include varied hours, evenings, weekends and holidays. Average Hours: 15-25 Hours/Week.

Physical Requirements/Lifting Requirements:

Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation. Heavy work – Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
