The Weitz Company is seeking a Field Operations Manager to be located on data center projects for our Iowa Business Unit located in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids, IA
The Field Operations Manager is responsible for the management and coordination for all field operations. This position provides guidance and expertise to Project Superintendents on all field activities. This position may act as an advisor to Project Managers and Construction Managers on matters related to field operations. This position is responsible for developing, training, and maintaining a qualified force of field supervisors. The Field Operations Manager assists in the planning of projects through preconstruction to job completion and serves as a liaison from project management and the field. This role provides representation of field issues and needs in decision-making. The Field Operations Manager typically reports directly to the designated Construction Manager.

What We're Looking For:
To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each previously stated duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and ability necessary to succeed in this role.
  • Education: A High School Diploma is required; Industry related college degree is preferred.
  • Experience: Eight years of commercial construction and business management experience is necessary for this position including six years as a Senior Project Superintendent position. Experience as a business manager or owner is preferred. Successful history of leading construction field employees.
  • Skills: Above average communication skills. Demonstrate consistent and creative evaluation of plans and specifications for best value. Exhibit a professional understanding of governing authority, constructability, scheduling, design, and value. Identify and understand cost, scope, and schedule variances. Able to work effectively on multiple, geographically dispersed projects. Understanding of and general orientation to project management database.
  • Technology: Candidate should have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Apple products (iPhone & iPad) and have the ability to learn specific software. Solid systems experience with Procore, JDE, and Asta is preferred. Training will be provided on company standards.
