Job description

OPPORTUNITY

The Vice President, Healthcare Value Creation & Asset Management will report into the Senior Vice President, Asset Management, and will work closely with the senior executive team, investments team and the financial planning & analysis group. Fengate currently has a U.S. healthcare portfolio of more than $1.7 billion and 4 million square-feet and expects significant additional growth over the next several years. The portfolio spans across the acuity spectrum from medical office buildings, inpatient rehabilitation facilities, ambulatory surgery centers, and microhospitals, among others. The position will be responsible for management and oversight of a variety of duties including, but not limited to, interfacing with operating partners, oversight of leasing and renewal initiatives, oversight of project development and construction activities, business plan implementation, investment due diligence, asset dispositions and various other asset management and value-creation activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Analyze project performance and identify opportunities for technical, commercial, or capital structure improvements, asset dispositions or organizational changes. Lead the preparation and presentation of Investment Committee materials for such events and participate in their implementation.
  • Management and oversight of operating partners performance in the implementation of asset-specific business plans as well as construction and development activities.
  • Contribute to development of internal templates, processes, procedures, etc. to support the effective management of the portfolio including adherence to all REIT reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with members of the Asset Management, Financial Planning & Analysis, and Financial Reporting teams to maximize investment returns.
  • Produce and deliver presentation materials to effectively communicate complex concepts to senior members of the organization.
  • As required, assist with due diligence and review of potential new acquisitions.

Requirements

KEY QUALIFICATIONS
  • 8+ years of progressive and related work experience, with skills developed within U.S. healthcare real estate and an asset management organization.
  • Undergraduate degree, post-graduate degree or MBA in Business, Real Estate, Finance, Engineering or Accounting is an asset.
  • Experience in project development, asset management and/or construction management.
  • Experience in assessing and delivering value creation opportunities.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, including the ability to understand and analyze operational data and financial models to provide analysis and data-driven recommendations.
  • Effective communicator of complex concepts to senior members of the organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Argus Enterprise and other related software.
  • Flexibility and adaptability regarding work assignments, including willingness to learn new skills, subject matter areas and industries.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly across North America to project and/or partner locations.
