Job Description:
This role is designed for an experienced investment professional with a demonstrated ability to manage complex client portfolios and build long-term client relationships. The Portfolio Manager will serve as a senior member of the investment team, responsible for portfolio construction, investment oversight, client engagement, client support team oversight, and business development. The Richmond, VA based team operates in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment and offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced professionals across investment management, family office, and client service functions.
The successful candidate will have deep investment expertise, strong technical and analytical skills, and a proven track record of managing sophisticated portfolios. The individual should be highly organized, collaborative, and client-focused, with the ability to balance portfolio management responsibilities alongside relationship management and new business development efforts.
Responsibilities Include:
Portfolio Management
o Serve as a portfolio manager for client relationships, ensuring portfolios align with client objectives, constraints, and long-term goals.
o Design, implement, and monitor customized investment portfolios across public and private markets.
o Oversee portfolio performance, asset allocation, and risk exposures, recommending adjustments as market conditions or client circumstances evolve.
o Maintain deep knowledge of Silvercrest's investment platform and contribute to investment research and strategy discussions.
Client Relationship Management & Business Development
o Act as a primary investment contact for clients, leading portfolio review meetings and communicating investment strategy, performance, and outlook.
o Collaborate with client associates and family office professionals to deliver comprehensive, high-touch client service.
o Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships and contribute to new business development initiatives.
Team & Firm Leadership
o Work closely with portfolio associates, client associates, operations, and compliance teams to ensure effective portfolio implementation and service delivery.
o Assist with management and oversight of portfolio associates and client associate and all elements of client service related workflows.
o Support firm-wide initiatives related to investment process improvement, systems, and best practices.
Experience and Education:
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant investment management or financial services experience
• Demonstrated experience managing complex, multi-asset portfolios
• Experience with alternative investments (private equity, private credit, hedge funds, real assets) preferred
• Experience with institutional clients and/or ultra high net worth family clients
• Demonstrated experience with business development
Required Skills:
• Advanced understanding of portfolio construction, asset allocation, risk management, and investment strategy implementation
• Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to evaluate traditional and alternative investments
• Proven experience presenting investment strategies and portfolio results to sophisticated clients
