As a Powertrain Quality Engineer, you will partner with cross-functional teams (Powertrain Operations, Design, Quality, and Manufacturing Engineering) to deliver robust manufacturing solutions. Your focus will be on driving operational excellence to ensure flawless product launches and reduced warranty costs.

We are seeking a motivated professional with a passion for excellence and a desire to drive robustness into the PTME engineering Factory to become part of the PTME Process Failure Mode Avoidance and Prevent Recurrence Team.  The ideal person will have knowledge of the Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA) deliverables (such as PFMEA's, Control Plans, etc.), core engineering systems such as MIDAS, FEDE, Auros/E2KS (MA's, MPS, MDS assessments), engineering standards and a basic awareness of GPDS powertrain deliverables.  This will be used to support PTME launch teams through their engineering launch and FMA deliverables via coaching, training, deep dives, support tools and core engineering systems support and improvement actions.  This individual may also be working with various global teams for powertrain launch related quality issues/concerns or as a part of the PAC (Prevent Action Closure) Process when issues are identified to ensure the correct root cause has been identified along with robust permanent preventative actions (PCA/PRA) and associated migrations, to protect current model and future model programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering degree or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering discipline
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others as part of a team. 
  • Strong leadership, problem solving, and analytical skills required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to teach / coach and present materials to peers and various levels of PTME leadership
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to a dynamic cross functional working environment and diverse team.

  • Previous Manufacturing and Quality experience, with personal experience in APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) including the development of PFMEA's and Control Plans
  • Demonstrated responsibilities in a plant manufacturing environment 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of Ford Quality Processes such as: Ford Quality Operating Systems (QOS), Process FMA (SCCAF/SCCP, FMEA, Control Plans), Bill of Process, Quality Launch Readiness Assessments, 3 Legged / 5 Why Problem Solving, DMAIC, Global 8D methodology, etc. 
  • Six Sigma Experience (Green Belt or Black Belt).
  • Core Ford Engineering Systems such as MIDAS, FEDE, Auros/E2KS (MA's, MPS, MDS assessments), engineering standards and a basic awareness of GPDS powertrain deliverables 
  • Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) tools (e.g., ACAD) and GD&T knowledge

Work with PTME and Global Quality teams to improve the quality operating system including updating standard documents, Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA) process robustness, and training continuous improvement.  Responsibilities include:

  • Support PTME PQR quality review including overview of powertrain warranty results, SAR's, relevant G8D's, overall FMA robustness, and quality issues requiring management discussion to improve awareness of overall launch quality and drive robustness into the PTME Engineering Factory.
  • Lead PTME actions to ensure compliance with corporate standards / processes and drive continuous improvement for FMA deliverables through training development, coaching and deep-dive reviews of program status
  • Lead / support the improvement and/or development of Process FMA tools 
  • Support / coach PTME engineers in the use of FEDE and manage FEDE UARS access requests for Program Level
  • Coordinate PTME PAC paper response to ensure closure and drive robust permanent corrective actions (PCA's) / prevent reoccurrence actions (PRA's) using problem solving tools with an emphasis on 3L5Y.
  • Document and cascade QOS specific lessons learned ensuring robust PRA's have been established and migrated to the Forward Model team. 
  • Complete warranty deep dives on special topics and support warranty workstreams
  • Interface with partners such as Product Design, Global Quality Office, LRCA and PTME Global Process Improvement to support the development and implementation of best practices, drive continuous improvement and issue resolution.
  • Support PTME ISO Audit and certification process.
  • Lead drawing management (Next-Gen DMS / Vault)
  • Develop and distribute monthly Process FMA E-Blast communications to improve organizational knowledge of FMA tools and quality processes
  • Travel to PT Manufacturing Plants may be required with occasional overnight stays
