The Role

The Communications Director oversees church-wide communication and helps tell the story of what God is doing in and through Century Assembly. This position is responsible for developing communication and social media strategies that keep our church informed while creatively capturing the people, culture, and experiences that make Century Assembly feel like Century.

Working closely with pastoral leadership, ministry leaders, and the Creative Team, the Communications Director will plan ahead for upcoming events, initiatives, and ministry priorities while remaining flexible as ministry needs change.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the central point person for church-wide communication.
  • Stay ahead of upcoming events, initiatives, and ministry priorities to ensure communication needs are not missed.
  • Work with pastoral leadership to determine how and where information should be communicated, including stage announcements, social media, newsletters, text messages, lobby displays, and other channels.
  • Oversee church-wide email newsletters and text message communication.
  • Develop social media strategy, creative direction, and content calendars for Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
  • Write, schedule, and publish approved social media content.
  • Identify and creatively tell stories that communicate the people, culture, ministry, and life of Century Assembly.
  • Collaborate with the Creative Team to capture and develop photo, video, graphic, and other digital content.
  • Present creative ideas and content to pastoral leadership for direction and approval.
  • Coordinate graphic, video, photography, and other creative requests with Century's Creative Team.
  • Provide clear project details, deadlines, and direction to creatives and volunteers.
  • Work with the Events Director to create and update event registrations, descriptions, dates, times, links, and other details.
  • Anticipate promotional needs for upcoming events and initiatives.
  • Participate in staff meetings and remain informed about upcoming ministry priorities.
  • Prepare staff meeting agendas, take notes, and distribute relevant information.
  • Maintain communication calendars, deadlines, and project details.
  • Follow up with staff and ministry leaders to gather information needed for communication projects.

  • Strong storytelling instincts with the ability to communicate the people, culture, and life of Century Assembly.
  • Able to develop and present creative ideas while working within the direction of pastoral leadership.
  • Comfortable collaborating with graphic designers, videographers, photographers, consultants, and volunteers.
  • Able to clearly communicate creative needs, deadlines, and expectations.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Proactive and able to plan several weeks in advance.
  • Strong follow-through while remaining flexible as ministry priorities change.
