Job description

Seeking to hire a Design Engineer for a client in Chicago, IL 60646. Our client is a leading manufacturer of power burners.

Position Summary:
Designs new products and makes improvements to the existing product line. Works closely with members of sales, engineering and operations to ensure continuity in product offering and company goals. May evaluate products, parts or processes for cost efficiency and reliability. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Responsibilities:

·         Develop and initiate new product development for current and new applications

·         Carry out complete testing of new or revised products

·         Recommend new product technologies and new product applications

·         Analyze customer applications and integrate product development into a new system development

·         Coordinate and initiate research and development activities

·         Initiate cost reduction ideas and integrate them into new product development

·         Generate engineering reports and laboratory test reports

·         Accumulate documentation to substantiate patent applications

·         Coordinate the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results

·         Confer with sales, production and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods and quality results

·         Desire to work in the lab and on the assembly line for testing purposes

·         Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested

Requirements:

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent

·         At least 5 years of related experience and/or training

·         Knowledge of CAD systems (AutoCAD, Inventor)

·         Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)

·         Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, electronics, materials, combustion, assembly

·         Familiarity with agency approvals (Knowledge of UL 197 Standard and NSF would be a bonus)

·         Project management – ability to organize and manage multiple products

·         Ability to work with vendors, customers and employees

·         Ability to perform problem analysis and problem resolution
