Job Summary: The RESRG Corporate Assembly Engineer (also referred to as Industrial Engineer) is responsible for developing assembly process industrialization concepts and strategies, new Project RFQ activities, equipment development, production readiness deployment, and launch support across RESRG Automotive programs and NA manufacturing locations.

This role provides technical leadership from manufacturing feasibility through equipment sourcing, design validation, acceptance, ramp-up, troubleshooting, and final handover to production. The Corporate Assembly Engineer works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure robust assembly processes, on-time project execution, and effective resolution of equipment- and process-related concerns.

20-30% travel to be expected, supporting vendor run-off events and plant launch support.

Key Responsibilities:Assembly Process Feasibility and Industrialization:
  • Provide manufacturing feasibility feedback for new assembly processes, equipment concepts, and program launch requirements.
  • Develop and maintain centralized standards, equipment strategy, supplier leveraging, lessons learned, and sharing of synergies across plants
  • Partner with RESRG plant teams and the Project CFT members to provide guidance regarding feasible and robust assembly strategies.
  • Utilize cost models to provide initial equipment estimates to our Sales and Value Estimating teams
Assembly Equipment Development and Validation:
  • Lead the design, development, continuous improvement, validation, and production readiness of assembly equipment for new launches and process improvements.
  • Prepare statements of work for new equipment and support supplier sourcing, technical reviews, and equipment selection activities.
  • Plan and execute equipment pre-acceptance, final acceptance, ramp-up, troubleshooting, and handover activities through successful transfer to production.
Launch Execution and Production Readiness:
  • Establish, verify, and document robust assembly processes that meet quality, timing, safety, and production requirements.
  • Drive completion of assembly engineering deliverables across all project stages and support launch readiness reviews with clear timing, risks, and action plans.
  • Support ramp-up activities by identifying issues, coordinating corrective actions, and ensuring sustainable process performance.
Plant and Customer Support:
  • Provide manufacturing plant support for assembly equipment-related concerns, downtime issues, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Strong understanding of lean concepts and automation frameworks supporting workflow, waste elimination, stability, problem solving, and sustainable operational performance
  • Assist in resolving assembly issues related to customer inquiries, internal escalations, quality concerns, and production performance.
  • Provide technical support to Sales and business development teams when assembly process knowledge is required for customer discussions, quoting, or feasibility reviews.
Documentation, Communication, and Cross-Functional Leadership:
  • Maintain basic administration of assigned responsibilities, project documents, equipment documentation, lessons learned and launch readiness records.
  • Communicate assembly engineering status, open issues, timing risks, and escalation needs to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Lead technical alignment with internal cross-functional team members to ensure assembly equipment and process decisions support program objectives.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or another technical discipline
  • 5-10 years of experience in automotive manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or Equipment Design and deployment
  • Strong technical knowledge in the detailed operations of assembly equipment design, development, validation, launch, troubleshooting, and production readiness.
  • Experience preparing equipment statements of work and supporting sourcing, supplier reviews, equipment buyoff, and installation activities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with CAD environments such as CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, or other 3D tools preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, manufacturing plants, suppliers, customers, and leadership stakeholders.
  • Fluent English required; ability to speak German or Spanish would be a bonus
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, organization, and project timing management skills.
