Job description

UNM Medical Group, Inc. is hiring for a Clinical Nutritionist to join our Truman Health Services team. This opportunity is a part-time 0.5FTE (20 hours a week) up to a full-time 1.0FTE (40 hours a week) day shift opening located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

*Sign-on Bonus Available*

Minimum $56,173- Midpoint $70,217*

*Salary is determined based on years of total relevant experience.

*Salary is based on 1.0 FTE (full time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. Less than 40 hours/week will be prorated and adjusted to the appropriate FTE.

Summary

Under direct supervision, provides basic nutrition education to patients and their families; certifies patients for specific public health program benefits. Performs a range of administrative functions required to ensure efficient program operation.

Minimum Job Requirements of a Clinical Nutritionist:

Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or an equivalent field with 1 year directly related experience. State of NM Licensed Dietitian (LD) or Licensed Nutritionist (LN) or ADA Registered Dietitian (RD). Completed degree from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Verification of education and licensure (if applicable) will be required if selected for hire.

Duties and Responsibilities of a Clinical Nutritionist:

  1. Evaluates and assesses nutrition status of patients, and screens patients for nutritional risk in accordance with established department protocols and standards.
  2. Plans and initiates medical nutrition therapy to patients if indicated by patient requirements and clinical protocol.
  3. Certifies patients for specific program benefits.
  4. Educates and counsels patients and families on nutritional issues, either individually or in groups.
  5. Communicates individual nutritional care plans to other health care providers as a member of a health care team.
  6. Orders and maintains inventory of program supplies, including patient checks, for all clinics.
  7. Performs various administrative duties related to public health nutrition programs.
  8. Maintains professional growth and development through completion of required departmental competencies.
  9. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
