Summary

Asphalt Plant Managers are accountable for the safety of everyone at the facility, striving every day to enable all Manatt's employees to achieve their goals and responsibilities, while ensuring they feel valued. Manatt's Asphalt Plant Managers act as the standard bearer for Manatt's values, mission, purpose, and vision. Is accountable for the people stationed at the plant-building and serving their team; and the performance and operation of the plant, including its condition and cleanliness and is always accountable for everything and everyone at his/her plant.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Coordinates production, distribution, warehousing, and sales in accordance with policies, principles, and procedures established by General Manager.
  • Assigns trucks, duties, and schedules for employees under his/her supervision, schedule at least a week in advance.
  • Acts as liaison with job estimator by providing calculations, including hours involved, tons of materials needed, along with truck, plant and human resources required.
  • Coordinates with the logistics team and use logistics software, XBE, to plan daily work.
  • Recognizes and communicates to superintendent or project manager any priority projects or problems, such as employee or job costing issues, and complaints from the public.
  • Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed, bring problems to the attention of the superintendent, safety director or HR manager.
  • Supervises plant crew to obtain top-quality workmanship, efficiency, employee satisfaction, morale, communication, commitment, teamwork and pride.
  • Ensures employee timecards are reviewed, verified and correctly coded for accounting purposes.
  • Suggests personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, hires and training requirements.
  • Adheres to the Company's Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Policy when taking part in any employment action or decision, such as hiring, job assignment, layoff or termination.
  • Analyzes and resolves worker problems and recommends motivational plans.
  • Regularly communicates with proper staff about plant and/or equipment repair and maintenance needs.
  • Relates to the public and customers in a professional, courteous and respectful manner, and appropriately responds to their complaints.
  • Follows procedures and protocols as set forth in job orientation and trainings.
  • Expected to operate in safe manner and abide with traffic laws, rules, and regulations of State/Federal Departments of Transportation (DOT), laws governing hazardous materials and placarding, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations and company rules/safety directives.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Asphalt Plants required.
  • Good driving record, CDL preferred.
  • Heavy equipment operation preferred.
