Line Cook- Sunda Detroit
General Overview
Line Cooks are responsible for the timely and consistent preparation of all menu items, including any reasonable special requests during service. A line cook possesses technical culinary skills and the ability to prepare great food while maintaining the highest food standards and contributes creative input toward team development.
Sunda New Asian is an award-winning restaurant concept featuring modern Southeast Asian cuisine, culture, and experiences. By seamlessly melding elevated cooking techniques and flavors found throughout Asia, Sunda’s extensive cross-cultural New Asian menu spans many cultural and culinary options, allowing guests to choose the dining experience they desire. Summary of Responsibilities:
Consistently prepares products according to plates batch recipe specs
Possess effective communication skills to expedite service
Sets up and stocks food items and other necessary supplies
Prepares food items by cutting, chopping, mixing, and preparing sauces
Cooks food items by grilling, frying, sautéing, and other cooking methods to specified standards
Maintain cleanliness and complies with food sanitation requirements by properly handling food and ensuring correct storage
Cleans and sanitizes cooking surfaces at the end of the shift
Performs inventory checks and completes food storage logs
Knowledge, Skills and Personal Attributes
Basic understanding of sanitation and regulations for workplace safety
Basic understanding of learn food handling techniques, preparation, and cooking procedures
Ability to function well in a high-paced environment
Follows directions and instructions
Education and Experience
Previous restaurant experience preferred
Must complete Food Handlers Certificate
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of standing and working in a kitchen
Exposure to extreme heat, steam, and cold present in a kitchen environment
Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times
Manual dexterity to cut and chop foods and perform other related tasks
