The Opportunity: Lead Our Growth Strategy

Are you a strategic sales professional who thrives in high-autonomy, entrepreneurial environments? Do you want to use your relationship-building skills to expand client networks with enterprise-level organizations?

As the Business Development Manager, you will join our talented group of inside sales professionals to help our business continue growing. You will effectively market St. Onge Company’s subject matter expertise as a leader in supply chain and logistics engineering consulting. In this role, you will have a unique opportunity to build a business within a business, creating your own career space and directly shaping our growth trajectory. Your target clients will primarily be VP and C‑Suite leaders in major verticals, including Food and Beverage, Consumer Packaged Goods, Retail, eCommerce, Life Sciences, and Industrial Manufacturing.

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities):

Turn Strategy into Growth: Think, plan, and execute effective penetration of vertical markets and prospective accounts, targeting companies with revenues over $200 Million.

Cultivate Executive Relationships: Identify, establish, and develop key relationships with executive and upper management stakeholders through phone, email, and in-person communication.

Mentor & Lead: Guide and manage the Business Development team, providing direction, setting clear expectations, and enabling team members to excel independently.

Market the Brand: Research target companies, schedule introductory appointments, and represent St. Onge Company at industry trade shows to target specific market segments and geographical regions.

What You Bring to the Table:

Experience: 8–10 years of inside sales experience selling professional services. Prior experience in supply chain, logistics, or material handling is ideal.

Leadership Chops: 5+ years of experience managing a Business Development team, with a proven track record of coaching team members and reviewing performance.

Industry Fluency: A solid understanding of supply chain and material handling technology, with the ability to influence and persuade to achieve desired outcomes.

Communication Style: Elite oral and written communication skills, exceptional organizational planning, and an unwavering commitment to ethically and honestly represent the company.

Technical Proficiency: High level of proficiency with MS Office software, especially MS Word and Excel.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in business, science, or a related discipline is preferred, though equivalent professional experience is fully acceptable.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

Enjoy flexibility with our hybrid and remote office options.

Your environment will primarily be a controlled office setting, combined with visits to client production facilities, warehouses, and distribution centers where conditions may vary.

Site visits and trade shows may include extensive walking tours of facilities, and projects may entail lifting materials up to 25 lbs.

Travel is estimated at 10–15% annually, with higher frequency during peak trade show seasons. This includes local car trips, regional trains, and domestic or international air travel with overnight stays.
