Job description

We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer to support and enhance enterprise networking operations in Chicago, Illinois. This role focuses on building reliable, secure connectivity across on-premises and cloud-based environments while improving visibility, automation, and operational performance. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced support setting and will bring strong technical depth across routing, firewalls, wireless infrastructure, and network monitoring.


MUST HAVE SOLAR WINDS EXPERIENCE.


Responsibilities:

• Design and deploy scalable network solutions across campus, wireless, SD-WAN, and cloud environments to meet business and operational needs.

• Maintain and troubleshoot complex multi-vendor infrastructure, resolving incidents and service requests within a high-volume, ticket-driven support model.

• Strengthen network security by addressing vulnerabilities, coordinating remediation activities, and applying secure configuration standards across network platforms.

• Administer and optimize routing, switching, and perimeter security technologies, including Cisco routers, Cisco ASA, and Palo Alto firewalls.

• Configure and support dynamic routing protocols such as BGP to ensure resilient and efficient connectivity between internal and external networks.

• Develop scripts and automation tools that streamline repetitive operational tasks, improve consistency, and reduce manual intervention.

• Implement monitoring and observability capabilities that provide actionable insight into network health, performance, and service availability.

• Partner with cross-functional teams to support infrastructure improvements, document technical designs, and advance network operational maturity.

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering within complex enterprise environments.

• MUST HAVE SOLAR WINDS EXPERIENCE

• Proven experience managing and troubleshooting Palo Alto firewalls and Cisco ASA security platforms.

• Working knowledge of Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and enterprise routing design principles.

• Experience supporting wireless, campus, and cloud-connected network environments.

• Ability to use scripting or automation tools to improve operational efficiency and network management.

• Familiarity with vulnerability remediation, secure network design, and infrastructure monitoring practices.
