What is an AS400 systems administrator?

AS400 Systems Administrators are IT professionals responsible for managing and maintaining IBM AS400 (also known as IBM iSeries or IBM Power Systems) computer systems. Their duties include installing and configuring hardware and software, performing system backups and restores, monitoring system performance, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring security and compliance. They play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation and reliability of business applications that run on the AS400 platform.

What are some common challenges faced by an AS400 systems administrator when managing legacy systems?

AS400 Systems Administrators often encounter challenges related to maintaining and upgrading legacy hardware and software, as many organizations still rely on older IBM i systems for critical business operations. Compatibility issues with newer technologies and limited vendor support can also pose obstacles. These skills and qualities ensure the reliability, security, and optimal performance of critical business systems running on the AS400 platform.
