Job Description - IBM i (iSeries / AS400) System Administrator
Location: Remote
We are looking for an experienced IBM i (iSeries / AS400) System Administrator to support day-to-day operations and ensure the stability, availability, and performance of enterprise systems.
This role acts as a key bridge between infrastructure and application teams, focusing on operational support, incident management, and environment health rather than development or migration activities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide daily operational support for IBM i (iSeries / AS400) environments
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and job scheduling
  • Manage batch jobs, queues, and system workloads
  • Perform backup and recovery operations and ensure data integrity
  • Apply PTFs (Program Temporary Fixes) and system patches as required
  • Handle incident, problem, and change management (ITIL processes)
  • Coordinate with application and infrastructure teams for issue resolution
  • Manage user profiles, security settings, and access control
  • Support system tuning, capacity monitoring, and performance optimization
  • Ensure smooth operations of production and non-production environments
Required Skills
  • Strong experience in IBM i / iSeries / AS400 System Administration
  • Knowledge of OS/400 or IBM i operating system
  • Experience with job scheduling, spool files, and message handling
  • Understanding of backup/recovery tools and procedures
