Job Summary:

Performs a variety of tasks associated with the set up and maintenance of customer sales tax exemption documents. Ensures documents meet compliance requirements. Researches and resolves tax disputes.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Respond to high volume of customer email requests in group mailbox. Process new account set ups, tax adjustment requests and updates to existing accounts. Review, research, and execute appropriate action.
  • Investigates and resolves customer invoice tax disputes to facilitate payment from, or issuance of tax adjustment to customer.
  • Updates and maintains records and files related to sales tax exemptions to comply with jurisdiction requirements. Documents must be audit ready.
  • Monitor customer orders to ensure appropriate tax rates are applied
  • Provide information and assistance to internal and external customers related to tax policies and jurisdictional rules
  • Monitors and updates customer orders as necessary to ensure appropriate tax status
  • Obtains, reviews and approves sales tax exemption documentation from external customers
  • Maintains and updates electronic and/or hard copy sales tax documents into database and imaging system in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Experience:

  • Typically requires a minimum of two years of related experience.


Education and Certification(s):

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Distinguishing Characteristics:

  • Experience with customer sales tax exemptions
  • Experience operating ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with AS400, SAP, and Vertex systems a plus
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Position requires verbal and written communication with external customers and collaboration with internal contacts
  • Knowledge of file and records management and basic mathematical calculations is preferred
  • Experience conducting research to determine appropriate tax rates, rules, and regulations
