Program Summary The Equity in the Arts (EIA) initiative is committed to fostering cultural equity through diverse programming such as art exhibitions, humanities lectures, music festivals, dance residencies, and community engagement events. This internship supports the delivery of these programs, ensuring representation of underrepresented communities and promoting inclusion in South Bend's arts and humanities landscape. Position Summary: The Equity in the Arts Intern will assist with planning, coordination, and execution of EIA events and programs.
This role is ideal for college students passionate about arts, culture, and community engagement. Interns will gain hands-on experience in event management, project management, cultural programming, and public engagement while contributing to South Bend's vision of becoming a regional arts destination. Key Responsibilities: Event Support: Assist with setup, coordination, and breakdown for EIA events (ex: South Bend High School Music Festival, Dance Festival, Dia de los Muertos, Manuscripts in May, Movies at the Morris, etc).
Support the development of new innovative art related events for the South Bend community. Community Engagement: Help create inclusive spaces for diverse audiences and artists. Support outreach efforts to local schools, community groups, and cultural organizations.
Administrative Tasks: Maintain event schedules, artist databases, and promotional materials. Assist with social media , EIA website edits, and marketing efforts to promote events. Program Development: Provide input on new initiatives aligned with cultural equity goals.
Support grant-related activities and reporting as needed. Qualifications: Currently enrolled in a college or university program (Arts, Humanities, Communications, Event Management, Entrepreneurship, Nonprofit Administration, or related fields preferred). Strong interest in arts, culture, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Flexible schedule to accommodate evening/weekend events.
Learning Outcomes: Gain practical experience in event planning and cultural programming. Develop skills in community engagement and arts administration. Understand the role of cultural equity in shaping vibrant communities.
