Job Details

Job Location: Highland, IN 46322Serving the Lake County area, the Music Therapist provides person-centered, evidence-based music therapy services to Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) receiving supports through Indiana Medicaid Waiver services. This position is responsible for assessing Individual needs, developing and implementing therapeutic interventions, and documenting progress in accordance with regulatory and agency standards. The Music Therapist plays a critical role in enhancing quality of life, communication, emotional expression, social engagement, and behavioral support through structured music-based interventions. This position collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, families/guardians, and program staff to ensure services align with Individual goals, support plans, and Lirio’s Mission and Values.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
  • Identify appropriate instruments, equipment, and therapeutic materials needed for the program
  • Conduct comprehensive music therapy assessments to determine individualized treatment goals and objectives
  • Develop and deliver meaningful music therapy interventions tailored to the individualized needs of those served, ensuring sessions are engaging, therapeutic, and person-centered in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
  • Facilitate individual and group music therapy sessions designed to address communication, motor, emotional regulation, behavioral, and social skill development
  • Document session notes, progress reports, and treatment updates in accordance with agency policies and regulatory standards
  • Monitor and evaluate individual progress, modifying interventions as needed
  • Collaborate with families, caregivers, direct support professionals, leadership, and other service providers to ensure continuity of care
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and person-centered planning sessions
  • Maintain and manage music therapy equipment and supplies
  • Ensure services are delivered in compliance with ethical standards and applicable state, federal, and accreditation regulations
