Description
Reporting directly to the Manager of Artistic Planning & Assistant to the Music Director, this internship provides a strong knowledge base in guest artist logistics and servicing, season planning, administering contracts, completing artist research and working cross departmentally to execute a production. This is an ideal experience for someone pursuing a career in artistic planning and/or artist management.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assisting with guest artist logistics and backstage hospitality for rehearsals and performances.
  • Working with Artistic Department staff to create and distribute guest artist itineraries.
  • Complete research projects on topics useful to Artistic staff for planning purposes.
  • Learn about and contribute ideas related to season planning.
  • Learn about and draft guest artist contracts and commissioning agreements.
  • Participate in departmental and interdepartmental meetings and coordinate with other departments on Artistic department-related needs.
  • Contribute to the CSO's vision to be the most relevant orchestra in America.
  • Represent the organization's values in your work.
  • Attend professional development sessions.
  • Other related duties required as part of a team environment.

Professional Development
The internship will include required mentoring, group project, and professional development sessions such as resume review, career coaching, etc.
Duration and Schedule
The internship begins in September 2026 and concludes at the end of May 2027. Interns will have some flexibility in setting their hours, but are required to have the ability to commit to a minimum of 12 hours per week and up to a maximum of 20 hours per week. The intern will be expected to have occasional availability on nights and weekends to work concerts and special events.
Interviews
Onsite interviews will begin early July 2026 and conclude early August 2027.
Requirements
  • College Junior, Senior, Graduate Student, or those who recently graduated with an expressed interest in Artistic Planning.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Knowledge of classical and/or choral music.
  • Project management experience.

The CSO encourages those that have been historically underrepresented in orchestral music to apply.
