Job description

Summary
Serves as a Waiter in the Banquet Department of the Hale Koa Hotel.
The first cut-off date will be on 2/1/2026. Additional lists will be pulled after this first cut-off date at the request of the hiring manager.
Local candidates will be reviewed first as PCS is not authorized. If determined that area of consideration is to be expanded, all candidates will be considered.

Duties

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
Duties are performed independently in accordance with accepted trade practices and guides. Waiters are assigned stations by the supervisor and given any special instructions necessary.
MAJOR DUTIES
Takes orders placed by guest for alcohol, non-alcoholic beverages and food items from menus. Required to be fully familiar with all food items available and all beverage items available for guest consumption. Orders drinks from bartender and delivers to guest. Maintains sales record, collects cash or payment by credit card from guest. Clean, reset and arrange tables as required. Remove used glassware, china, and silverware to steward area for cleaning.
Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Ability to follow oral and written instructions and prepare guest checks.
RESPONSIBILITY:
Responsible for cash receipts and complying with accountability procedures.
PHYSICAL EFFORTS:
Stands and walks for long periods. Continually lifts and carries items weighting up to 10 pounds, and occasionally up to 20 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works primarily indoors in areas that usually have adequate light and ventilation. Danger of slipping on wet or polished floors.

  • Must be able to work weekdays, weekends, holidays and various hours of the day and week when required.

Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess the following:
1. Applicant must meet state/local age requirements for the servicing of alcoholic beverage at the time of appointment.
2. Possess basic math skills necessary to compute patron bills and make change.
3. Be able to communicate effectively in English.

Area of Consideration:
  • This job is open to candidates who live in this commuting area (the Island of Oahu). If determined that area of consideration is to be expanded, all candidates will be considered. If you reside outside of the local commuting area, relocation costs will be at your expense.

PCS Costs:
  • Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized based upon a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest.

Allowances and Differentials:
  • This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week - whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
