Sherpa 6 is seeking a Strategic Integration Subject Matter Expert (SME) to help the Army connect the dots across a fast-moving modernization portfolio. In plain terms: you'll be the person who spots where separately funded Army program don't line up with each, brings the right stakeholders to the table, and helps senior leaders make resourcing decisions that close those gaps. This is a high-visibility advisory role supporting enterprise-wide modernization integration efforts across the Army acquisition and capability development community.support enterprise-wide modernization integration efforts across the Army acquisition and capability development community. 


You will work directly with Capability Program Executives (CPEs), Project Managers (PMs), Future Capability Directorates (FCDs), Transformation & Integration Directorates (TIDs), and Army DEVCOM (Combat Capabilities Development Command) Centers to identify, define and coordinate resolution of cross-capability integration gaps. Reporting under the direction of the Assistant CPE Ground Soldier Systems - Futures and supporting Army-wide initiatives such as Project Polaris, you'll help ensure programs, projects, and products align with the defined Polaris Capability Areas - enabling more effective capability delivery through prioritized Program Objective Memorandum (POM) submissions and execution within designated integration facilities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a key advisor and facilitator for enterprise integration efforts, aligning programs and technologies with the four Polaris Capability Areas: Information, Firepower, Mobility, and Survivability.
  • Collaborate with PMs, CPEs, FCDs, TIDs, and DEVCOM Centers to identify and define cross-capability integration gaps impacting the future force.
  • Develop and maintain integration roadmaps and crosswalks that inform and shape enterprise-level modernization strategies.
  • Support prioritization and resource alignment of integration gaps through the Army POM process, ensuring timely execution in Army integration facilities.
  • Lead coordination forums, working groups, and technical exchanges across modernization stakeholders to advance integration objectives.
  • Produce and deliver senior-level briefings, decision support products, and integration reports to General Officers and SES-level leadership.
  • Synthesize operational, technical, and programmatic data into actionable recommendations that drive enterprise modernization efforts.
  • Facilitate process improvements and governance models for the dismounted and mounted community of interest and broader capability alignment efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Military Science, Public Policy, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of direct experience in Army acquisition, capability development, or integration support roles.
  • Demonstrated understanding of CPE/PEO/PM organizational structures, DEVCOM and FCD roles, and capability-based modernization strategies.
  • Proven experience developing or supporting cross-functional strategies and presenting complex issues to senior leadership.
  • Experience with Army modernization governance, POM planning processes, or integration facility operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in National Security, Defense Studies, Systems Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 4+ years of experience supporting Army or Joint Force Capability Development, ASA(ALT), or DEVCOM organizations.
  • 10+ years of military experience 
  • Familiarity with Project Polaris, Department of War Acquisition Transformation Strategy, ASA (ALT) PAE Implementation Guidance, CJCSM 5123.01 Joint Forces Requirements Process, and HQDA Continuous Transformation
  • Experience with DOTMLPF-P integration and POM resourcing strategies.
  • DAWIA certification in Program Management or Systems Planning (Level II or higher).

The proposed salary range is reflective across all Sherpa 6 locations, years of experience, and skill levels. Salary negotiations will be based on a host of factors including but not limited to your geographic location, prior experience, relevant skills, education, and certifications.
