Job description

The Analyst provides strategy, research, financial analysis, data modelling, and technical support in valuing assets and evaluating asset and portfolio returns, performing in-depth market research, and running portfolio optimization analytics.

Analysts will work on multiple projects supporting all aspects of the investment process, utilizing a range of skills. Analysts will interact with professionals across multiple functions, including the Transactions, Asset Management, Land, and Finance teams, and will also work with global teams related to third-party advisory work and private REIT sponsors.

Analysts in this position will be exposed to institutional strategy, research, investment, and asset management activities as well as access to industry-leading market participants in the United States, Europe, and Asia Pacific.

  • Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and currently temple worthy.

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, accounting, or related field. Internships or real estate exposure is a plus.

  • 1-3 years of commercial real estate financial experience.

  • Keen interest in real estate and financial markets.

  • Ability to understand financial statements and market analyses.

  • Solid understanding of financial concepts with time value of money

  • Good understanding of accounting and experience in financial analysis and modeling

  • Conduct detailed macro/micro research focused on specific markets globally to determine change in rental rates, cap rates, market absorption, transaction activity, construction trends, population growth, job growth and industry concentration for investment and development opportunities and corporate strategy.

  • Analyze investment opportunities through market research, in depth financial analysis, and complex Argus and Excel financial proformas and modelling.

  • Perform analysis of maintenance cycles and expenses, efficient use of space, capital expenditures, trends in tenant needs, etc.     

  • Act as a key point of contact, providing information concerning the status of projects to management and investment leaders by keeping detailed project files, attending all applicable meetings and conference calls, and producing high-level reports as needed.

  • Coordinate, compile, review and summarize property-related or investment due diligence materials. Work with advisors, brokers, architects, contractors, and principals on issues related to project and asset due diligence. Coordinate with appraisers and other due diligence vendors as required.

  • Monitor project budgets and schedules for significant variances.

  • Write reports, memoranda, executive summaries, investment briefs, and presentations related to potential investments and present findings at transaction review, private REIT committee, investment committee meetings, and board meetings of the investment vehicles.

  • Create reports and presentations to visually capture overall and individual asset performance for senior management and investment committees.

  • Be familiar with and follow approved policies and procedures as set forth by the organization.

  • Utilize and leverage expertise in Argus and Yardi daily, acting as a subject matter expert for these platforms within the team.

  • Contribute to the improvement of existing processes and promote the adoption of best practices as related to the above duties and responsibilities.

  • Contribute to strategic projects and support the broader team with other duties as assigned.
