Drive the Future with the Summit Area YMCA!
Imagine starting your day knowing you're making a real difference-helping kids get to where they need to go safely while being part of a community-focused organization. At the Y, you'll find more than a job-you'll find purpose, connection, and the chance to positively impact lives every single day.

About the Role
The Summit Area YMCA is looking for a dependable, safety-minded, and kid-friendly School Bus Driver to transport children in our child care and camp programs between schools, YMCA locations, and activity sites. This role plays an essential part in creating a safe, welcoming, and fun experience for our youth participants.

If you're interested in more hours, this role may be upgraded to Full-Time by working in another department during non-driving hours-perfect for those with skills in childcare, membership services, aquatics, maintenance, or other YMCA departments.

You Might Be the Right Candidate if you:

  • Have prior experience driving a school bus
  • Enjoy working with children and have a friendly, approachable personality
  • Hold a valid NJ Commercial Driver's License with School Bus (S) and Passenger (P) endorsements (or are willing and able to obtain them)
  • Communicate effectively and work well with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Bring a big smile and a commitment to safety every single day

Salary & Benefits:

There is an opportunity to work an additional hours each week in another department making this a full time role with benefits. The Summit Area YMCA offers generous employee benefits including a free YMCA membership, continued professional development training, and 12% salary contribution to your retirement plan upon eligibility.

At the Summit Area YMCA, we are committed to equal opportunity employment regardless of gender, age, disability, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or religious affiliation. Our main purpose is to strengthen community. Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone can reach their full potential and we strive to live our cause with purpose every day. No matter who you are or where you're from, we believe that we're stronger when we come together.

Requirements

  • A current NJ Commercial Driver's License with School Bus and Passenger endorsements.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must be able to relate well to children and adults.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
