The Arlington-Mansfield Area YMCA is seeking an energetic, community-focused leader to serve as the Center Director for our new Kennedale YMCA.


This is a unique opportunity to be part of the grand opening of a brand-new YMCA and help establish the Y as an important part of the growing Kennedale community. The Center Director will oversee the day-to-day operations of the approximately 10,000-square-foot Kennedale YMCA while also serving as a visible YMCA representative throughout the community.


The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys building relationships, developing staff, creating a welcoming environment, and supporting the growth of YMCA membership and programs. This position requires a leader who is equally comfortable managing daily facility operations and representing the YMCA at community events, schools, businesses, civic organizations, and other opportunities throughout Kennedale. A background in fitness, recreation, wellness, or a related field is preferred but not required.


Essential Functions:

  • Provides leadership and oversight for the daily operations of the Kennedale YMCA, ensuring a welcoming, safe, clean, and high-quality experience for members and guests.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, schedules, supervises, and develops staff to support the successful operation of the center.
  • Supports and helps coordinate membership operations at the Kennedale YMCA by working closely with the Membership Director to provide a positive member experience, support membership growth and retention, assist with new member engagement and tours, and ensure membership practices are effectively implemented at the center.
  • Supports and helps coordinate YMCA programs offered at the Kennedale YMCA by working closely with department directors to ensure programs and services are effectively implemented and meet the needs of the Kennedale community.
  • Works with Association leadership and department directors to identify new programs and services based on the needs and interests of the Kennedale community.
  • Develops strong relationships with members and actively seeks feedback to continuously improve the member experience.
  • Serves as a YMCA ambassador within Kennedale and maintains a visible presence throughout the community.
  • Attends community events, festivals, school activities, chamber events, city functions, and other community gatherings to promote the YMCA and build awareness.
  • Develops relationships with local businesses, schools, nonprofit organizations, community leaders, and other potential partners.
  • Identifies opportunities for community partnerships, membership growth, program growth, sponsorships, and YMCA outreach.
  • Works closely with the Association's marketing team to promote the Kennedale YMCA, programs, events, membership opportunities, and community impact.
  • Assists with the development and management of the center's operating budget and works to achieve membership, program, and financial goals.
  • Ensures YMCA policies, procedures, safety standards, and abuse prevention practices are consistently followed.
  • Monitors facility needs, supplies, equipment, cleanliness, maintenance, and overall presentation of the center.
  • Serves as the primary on-site leader for the Kennedale YMCA and responds appropriately to member concerns, staff issues, facility needs, and emergencies.
  • Participates as a member of the Arlington-Mansfield Area YMCA leadership team and supports Association-wide initiatives and events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Requirements:
  • Previous supervisory experience required; experience leading teams in a recreation, fitness, wellness, hospitality, nonprofit, membership, or community-based setting is preferred.
  • A background in fitness, recreation, wellness, sports, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, supervise, motivate, and develop employees.
  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to build partnerships and comfortably represent the YMCA in community settings.
  • Must be willing to maintain a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends for YMCA and Kennedale community events.
  • Must successfully complete all YMCA-required training, background screening, and abuse prevention requirements.
