Job description

*Aftermarket Project Manager*
*Full-Time | Travel Required | Engineering Meets Customer Experience.*
*WHY THIS ROLE IS HOT – AFTERMARKET PROJECT MANAGER*
We’re looking for an Aftermarket Project Manager to step into the timeline of existing systems and engineer the future out of the past. Your mission: diagnose the aging giants of industry, retrofit them with smarter, cleaner solutions, and bring fresh life to legacy equipment still critical to America’s production lines.
You’re the kind of person who doesn’t walk away once the machine starts running – you _lean in_. You ask:
* How’s it performing?
* What’s wearing out too fast?
* Can we upgrade it?
* Is the client happy… or just quiet?
At *Tann Corporation*, we build industrial air pollution control systems that run hard in tough environments – but the real work begins _after_ installation. We're looking for an *Aftermarket Project Manager* who thrives on follow-through, improvement, and long-term customer relationships. If you're part project manager, part problem solver, part customer whisperer – read on.
*WHAT KIND OF HUMAN ARE WE LOOKING FOR? *
*What You’ll Be Doing (AKA Your Daily Adventure):*
* *Solve Real Problems* – When a customer calls with an issue, you diagnose, recommend, quote, and coordinate solutions. In other words, you’re the client whisperer.
* *Lead Technical Retrofits* – You’ll manage upgrades and modifications that make RTOs run like new (or better).
* *Own the Timeline* – You’ll create schedules, track progress, and make sure nothing slips through the cracks.
* *Build a Smarter Process* – You won’t just run projects – you’ll help us do it better every time.
* *Lead Aftermarket Projects *– Oversee aftermarket and service-related projects from kickoff to closeout.
* *Site-Ready Supervision *– Travel to customer facilities across North America to inspect, supervise installs, and strengthen relationships.
* *Hands-on Design Work *– Use CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent) to develop retrofit solutions, custom seals, or ductwork redesigns.
* *Bridge Office & Field *– Interface with service technicians, vendors, internal teams and customers to ensure smooth scheduling, logistics, and execution. Be the voice they trust.
* *Inspection Guru *– Produce detailed technical reports and recommend performance improvements based on field assessments.
*REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:*
* Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline (Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline) OR high school diploma or equivalent, plus prior experience in an industrial environment such as:
* Sheet metal fabrication
* Steam fitting
* Millwright work
* Electrical trades
* Capital equipment installation or maintenance
* Willingness and excitement to travel – because progress happens where the dirt moves (20%-30% travel required).
* Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of industrial systems, components, and processes.
* Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent) for interpreting and modifying technical drawings.
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and cross-functional coordination.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills, including customer interaction and technical documentation.
* Can accurately measure distance, diameter, airflow, temperature, etc.
* Communicate and work effectively with other departments and team members.
* Prioritize and work on multiple projects at one time in a fast-paced environment.
* Ability to read, understand and work from blueprints, layouts, BOM, PLC programs, P&ID and other types of work orders/instructions.
* Understand safety practices and procedures and continually implement them in the workplace or while working remotely, maintaining a Low Risk Tolerance and High-Risk Awareness.
*PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:*
* 3-5+ years of experience in the industrial air pollution control, thermal oxidizer, or heat recovery industry in the following area:
* Project management in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
* Engineering support for air pollution control, thermal oxidizers, or heat recovery systems (preferred).
* Hands-on experience with aftermarket sales, field retrofits, or capital equipment lifecycle support.
* Familiarity with combustion systems, fans and ducting design, piping systems, and controls integration.
* Prior experience supporting industrial clients in automotive, wood products, food, chemical, pharmaceutical, or metals manufacturing sectors.
* Field service or commissioning experience, especially in troubleshooting or optimizing thermal processing equipment.
* Proven ability to manage cross-disciplinary engineering teams and collaborate with fabrication, installation, and service crews.
*ABOUT TANN CORPORATION*
