Job description

Portico has an amazing opportunity to join our team as an Area Operations Manager! This position will support communities throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth, TX market.
Position Summary
The Area Operations Manager provides operational leadership and support across multiple apartment communities. This role serves as interim property leadership when needed, assists regional teams with operational challenges, supports newly transitioned communities, and implements corporate initiatives.
The ideal candidate is an experienced property management professional with strong leadership, troubleshooting, and training capabilities who can quickly step into property operations and drive results.
Key Responsibilities
Interim Property Management
  • Serve as Interim Community Manager, Assistant Community Manager, or Leasing Consultant as needed.
  • Oversee day-to-day property operations during leadership transitions or staffing gaps.
  • Address resident concerns, complaints, and operational issues.
  • Provide coaching and training to on-site associates to support performance and operational consistency.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and training programs.
Operational Support
  • Partner with Regional Directors and on-site teams to resolve operational or procedural issues.
  • Provide guidance on leasing performance, resident retention, customer service, and operational efficiency.
  • Assist with implementation of company initiatives such as lease-ups, resident renewal programs, and operational improvements.
Newly Transitioned Communities
  • Assist with the operational setup of newly acquired or transitioned communities.
  • Support leasing and marketing efforts to maintain occupancy goals.
  • Provide interim leadership while permanent teams are hired.
  • Assist with property audits, inspections, and operational assessments.
Financial and Operational Oversight
When serving in an interim leadership role, responsibilities may include:
  • Managing property budgets, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
  • Overseeing leasing and marketing activities.
  • Supervising maintenance operations and service standards.
  • Managing reporting, record keeping, and operational documentation.
  • Supporting resident relations and retention programs.
  • Ensuring compliance with risk management and safety procedures.
Special Projects
  • Support corporate and regional leadership with operational initiatives, property assessments, and special projects.
Qualifications
Experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in multifamily property management.
  • Experience as a Community Manager or Assistant Community Manager preferred.
  • Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Real Estate, Communications, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
Required Skills amp; Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of multifamily property operations.
  • Experience with leasing, financial reporting, and resident relations.
  • Proven leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
  • Excellent customer service and conflict resolution abilities.

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk stairs, and lift up to 30 pounds as needed.
