Job description

Seasonal Cashier - Area 51 Fireworks

The Seasonal Cashierโ€™s primary role is to handle all retail and/or wholesale transactions at the retail stores and/or main warehouse. They will verify all credit card transactions to ensure accuracy, and handle all monetary transactions. Cashiers are also responsible for counting the contents of the cash drawer/register at the end of each shift, keeping receipts, transaction records (deposits/withdrawals), and sales records. Cashiers may be responsible for checking materials and supplies and reporting when stock is low. Cashiers will also stock/restock, clean restrooms/breakrooms and complete other duties as assigned. A Cashier Supervisor or Manager/General Manager will manage cashiers.

Basic Requirements:

  • Basic Math โ€“ ability to understand and solve basic math problems, especially within cashier transactions โ€“ ability to add, subtract, and figure out percentages and count back change as needed
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills โ€“ ability to engage/greet customers, present our specials and answer questions the customer may have
  • Previous cashier experience preferred
  • Customer Service โ€“ positive attitude and the ability to help customers with their needs, answer questions and resolve basic issues as they arise; ability to work with upset/unhappy customers is a plus.Clean breakrooms, showrooms, and other areas assigned by supervisors/management
  • Product Knowledge โ€“ learn minimum basic knowledge about fireworks and be able to share that with customers.
  • Physically able to reach, stretch, bend, climb, and walk during work hours.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time during shift at cash register.
  • Dependability โ€“ ability to manage time - arrive on time for shifts, take breaks as scheduled, and count down registers promptly.
  • Basic to intermediate computer knowledge and the ability to use store cash registers.
  • Point of Sale Systems (POS) โ€“ experience with POS systems is preferred.
  • Ability to clean breakrooms, showrooms, and other areas as well as complete other duties as assigned by supervisors/management
