Job description

 The School of Architecture and Design at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, 9-month appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. This position requires a probationary period before tenure consideration, based on performance and potential. Candidates must have a strong academic record and an appropriate terminal degree. The typical teaching load per semester includes 6 credit hours of studio instruction and 3 credit hours of support course instruction. with final workload percentages for research, teaching, and service determined in the first semester of hire.
As the largest school in the College of the Arts, the School of Architecture and Design offers nationally accredited programs in Architecture, Interior Design, and Industrial Design. The ideal candidate will possess academic experience with a strong emphasis on studio instruction and studio pedagogy. The candidate should demonstrate an area/ areas of expertise which may include, building systems, sustainable design principles, digital representation techniques, ecological design, and or social equity. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and teaching courses that guide students through foundational and intermediate stages of architectural education. Their role will be crucial in shaping the studio curriculum, ensuring that students gain a comprehensive and practical education in architecture.

Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate and graduate lecture and studio courses as suited to the candidate's experience and expertise.
Enhance the School's curriculum and course offerings in the studio design sequence
Establish a rigorous research agenda.
Provide guidance and leadership in fostering a welcoming and supportive learning environment for all students.
Contribute to committee tasks, advise students, and engage in service activities that advance the mission of the Program, School, College, and the University.
Salary Range: The salary will be commensurate with experience.
Start-up Funds: Start-up funds may be available. These are to be used in alignment with the Program's vision for the next 5 years as it relates to this job description and the successful candidates research agenda.
Start Date: The anticipated starting date for the position is August 1, 2025.
