What does an architectural technologist intern do?

An Architectural Technologist Intern assists architects and senior technologists in the planning, design, and execution of building projects. Their tasks often include preparing technical drawings, helping with site surveys, creating 3D models, and ensuring that construction documents comply with relevant codes and regulations. Interns gain hands-on experience with architectural software and collaborate with different professionals within the design and construction teams. This role is essential for developing practical skills and industry knowledge before becoming a fully qualified architectural technologist.

What types of projects and responsibilities can an architectural technologist intern expect to handle on a daily basis?

As an Architectural Technologist Intern, you can expect to work closely with architects and senior technologists on tasks such as preparing detailed technical drawings, assisting with building code compliance research, and supporting the development of construction documents. You may also participate in site visits to observe project progress and help resolve technical issues as they arise. Collaboration is a key aspect of the role, as you will frequently coordinate with design teams, engineers, and contractors to ensure project requirements are met. This hands-on experience is invaluable for building practical skills and understanding the workflow of architectural projects.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an architectural technologist intern, and why are they important?
