Job Title: Architectural Project Manager (Registered Architect)
Job Description
This role is ideal for a registered Architect who enjoys leading projects from concept through completion while managing diverse project types such as municipal, industrial, commercial, and mixed-use developments. You will serve as a Project Manager, overseeing design and construction documentation, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring that projects meet client expectations and quality standards. The position offers the opportunity to work from multiple office locations in Michigan and contribute to a wide variety of public and private sector projects within a collaborative studio environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage architectural projects across municipal, industrial, commercial, and mixed-use sectors, ensuring successful delivery from initial design through construction documentation.
- Prepare comprehensive design and construction documentation for a variety of project types, including both public and private sector work.
- Collaborate regularly with internal support staff across multiple offices and with outside consultants to coordinate project deliverables and resolve design and technical issues.
- Work independently and as part of a team within a collaborative studio environment to produce high-quality design and construction documents.
- Create clear and compelling design presentations using both hand sketching and design software to communicate concepts to stakeholders.
- Perform field measuring work and develop accurate As-Built documents based on existing conditions.
- Utilize Revit, AutoCAD, and potentially SketchUp on a weekly basis for production work and construction documentation.
- Provide project management leadership, including planning, scheduling, and overseeing project tasks to meet deadlines and client expectations.
- Engage in occasional travel to project sites, using a company vehicle when available, to conduct field work and attend project-related meetings.
- Participate in a multidisciplinary environment that includes state, transportation, aviation, industrial, and commercial projects, contributing architectural expertise and project leadership.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
- Registered Architect license.
- 10 or more years of professional architectural experience.
- Demonstrated project management experience leading architectural projects.
- Strong proficiency in Revit for design and construction documentation.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD for production and detailing work.
- Experience working on at least one of the following project types: municipal, industrial, or commercial.
- Ability to produce design presentations using both hand sketches and digital design tools.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a studio team environment.
- Strong communication and coordination skills for working with internal teams and external consultants.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with SketchUp for 3D modeling and design visualization.
- Experience with government or aviation projects.
- Experience in construction administration and familiarity with construction processes.
- Experience working on mixed-use developments.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.
Work Environment
This position is based in Michigan, with the option to work from offices in Novi, Wyandotte, or Gaylord. The Novi office has approximately 60 employees across multiple departments, and the architecture team consists of about 18 professionals distributed across four offices in the state. The firm is a full-service, multi-disciplined organization that handles a diverse range of projects, including state, transportation, aviation, industrial, and commercial work. Core hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with flexible scheduling around these hours and very infrequent weekend work, supporting a healthy work-life balance. The environment is collaborative and studio-based, with regular use of Revit, AutoCAD, and occasionally SketchUp for production and documentation. The organization emphasizes long-term client relationships, innovative engineered solutions, and assembling qualified, dedicated project teams. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $60.00/hr.
