Architect II

Overview

VCBO Architecture is seeking an Architect II to contribute to the design and delivery of architectural projects within a collaborative studio environment. This role is based in our Utah office and is ideal for a mid-level professional with a strong foundation in design, documentation, and coordination within a collaborative team environment.

You’ll work with growing independence, contribute to project outcomes across multiple phases, and support both design quality and team performance.

About VCBO

VCBO is an award-winning, integrated design firm headquartered in Utah with a team of over 130 professionals and projects across the globe. Our work spans Civic and Recreation, Healthcare, Higher Education, Hospitality, and K-12 Education sectors, with a focus on delivering functional, sustainable, and forward-thinking design solutions.

We value mentorship, professional growth, and a collaborative studio culture where people are respected, supported, and enjoy working together.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to design, documentation, and coordination across multiple project phases
  • Prepare drawings and models for schematic design, design development, and construction documentation
  • Apply knowledge of building systems, codes, and construction methods in project work
  • Coordinate with internal team members and consultants on defined project components
  • Support the preparation of client presentations, including graphics, renderings, and diagrams
  • Assist in construction administration tasks, including RFIs, submittals, and addenda
  • Maintain quality, organization, and consistency in deliverables
  • Provide guidance and support to junior staff

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or related field
  • Typically 4–8 years of professional experience
  • Licensed Architect or actively pursuing licensure preferred, but not required
  • Proficiency in Revit; familiarity with additional design tools (SketchUp, Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite) a plus
  • Working knowledge of building codes, construction documentation, and coordination practices
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
