Job description

Position Overview

Archbishop Hannan High School, a Catholic, co-educational college preparatory institution, is seeking dedicated and responsible Substitute Teachers to support our faculty and students when regular teachers are absent. Substitute Teachers play a vital role in maintaining a positive learning environment, ensuring continuity of instruction, and upholding the values of the Hannan Way-Charity, Excellence, Faith, Family, and Integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom instruction based on lesson plans prepared by the regular teacher.
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and orderly classroom environment that reflects the values of a Catholic school community.
  • Take attendance, monitor student behavior, and manage classroom routines effectively.
  • Communicate and enforce school policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • Adapt to different subject areas and grade levels as needed.
  • Report any classroom issues or concerns to school administration
  • Support the mission of Archbishop Hannan High School by fostering spiritual, academic, and personal growth in students.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree (education background preferred).
  • Prior teaching or substitute teaching experience preferred.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to a variety of grade levels and subject areas.
  • Commitment to the values of Catholic education and willingness to support the school's mission.
  • Completion of the Archdiocese of New Orleans Safe Environment training and background checks (required).

Work Schedule

  • On-call, as needed, during the academic year.
  • Full-day and half-day assignments available.
