Certified Nursing Assistant

Duties:

  • Must be able to function according to the facility nursing aide job description and under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in the facility.
  • Obtains annual in-service hours as required by the State.
  • Follows all written instructions of Staff Nurse's Plan of Care as developed from a physician's treatment plan, within limits of the facility's and Agency's policies for Certified Nurse Aides.
  • Provides all necessary personal care as instructed by Staff Nurse:
  1. Bathing: bed bath, partial, tub, or shower
  2. Linen change for occupied or unoccupied bed
  3. Oral hygiene
  4. Hair care
  5. Skincare
  6. Nail care: cleaning, filing
  7. Turning and positioning with emphasis on maintaining good body alignment
  8. Assisting with ambulation and transfer techniques
  9. Assists patient with eating, documentation of quantity eaten, difficulties, appetite
  10. Assists with elimination needs via bedpan, urinal, commode, and bathroom
  11. Taking and recording TPR, BP
  12. Accurately measuring intake and output
  13. Performing and recording results of urine testing for sugar and acetone
  14. Assisting Staff Nurses in assessing, describing, and recording patient's level of consciousness, response to treatment, adjusting to condition, understanding of the condition, coping mechanisms
  15. Observing and reporting changes in patient's condition to Staff Nurse
  16. Assisting with an active and inactive range of motion as instructed by Staff Nurse
  17. Assisting with soaks as instructed by Staff Nurse.
  18. Performing colostomy care by emptying and cleaning bag per Staff Nurse instructions
  19. Providing decubitus care if no medications are involved per Staff Nurse instructions
  20. Administering and monitoring oxygen use
  21. Applying heat/ice as instructed by Staff Nurse
  22. Providing reality orientation
  • Works with patients with maturity, compassion, empathy, and confidentiality at all times.
  • Records all pertinent care and observations in patient record as dictated by facility.

Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must have reliable transportation with current auto insurance and driver's license.
  • Current CNA License or one year of Home Health Aide experience.
  • One year of recent or relevant experience.
  • Current TB, physical, and clear background check.
