We're looking to hire a talented Field Service Engineer, ARC based in Denton, TX.


Reporting to the NAM ARC Manager the Field Service Engineer, ARC responsible for providing technical training, technical support, and specialized repair services for various equipment and systems. The primary role is to work with ESAB's authorized repair network to develop and improve repair training programs, technical documentation, and engineering support necessary for qualified in-field repair of ESAB equipment. They will provide comprehensive, timely and effective support to the ARC network throughout Noth America.


Primary Duties

  • Identify and assess the technical training needs of ARC's in North America and evaluate their levels of competency.
  • Develop and deliver a comprehensive training curriculum to support ESAB's ARC network, building in-person and online training programs.
  • Effectively manage the technical training budget against defined targets.
  • Identify gaps and provide the technical writing of service and repair guides, manuals, and procedures for the ARC network.
  • Troubleshooting and Diagnostics in partnership with ARC staff and field service technicians, analyze and diagnose complex equipment issues to determine root cause(s) and service strategies.
  • Utilize technical expertise, diagnostic tools, technical documentation, and schematics to identify the root cause of the problems and develop a plan for repair.
  • Interact directly with ARC technical staff and end users of the equipment, respond to escalations, and offer comprehensive technical assistance, answer complex questions, and offer expert-level guidance on operating and maintaining the equipment or systems to prevent or mitigate failures.
  • Write and distribute technical reports describing malfunctions, component deficiencies, and deviations from design specifications. Participate in quality improvement meetings and projects.
  • Perform preventive/corrective maintenance on customer owned machines where applicable.
  • Communicate and troubleshoot with customers, engineers, technicians, and production personnel to resolve problems. Includes communications with customer operators and maintenance personnel.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of service issues, repairs performed, parts used, and other relevant information. Identify trends and develop best practices to build recommendations for improving repair performance.
  • Drive ESAB brand values and philosophy through all training, ARC support and development activities.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to ensure safe working environments. They will also comply with industry safety standards while performing their duties.
  • Management of spare parts orders, stocking requirements and logistical functions to promote on-time delivery and targeted service levels.
  • Support key customers with on-site support on an ad-hoc basis for installation, troubleshooting, repair, etc.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in electronic engineering technology or 2-3 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience with ESAB equipment a plus.
  • Exposure to high-voltage systems (240V, 460V, and 575V three-phase voltages). Knowledge of high-power converters is preferred.
  • Experience with structured training methodologies and learning management platforms (e.g., Critical Path, ESAB University).
  • Strong electrical and mechanical background and knowledge of equipment repair and troubleshooting.
  • Hands on experience repairing welding and cutting (or equivalent) equipment.
  • Effective problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in project management tools such as Microsoft Project as well as Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and web-based training / LMS portals).
  • Ability to support the needs of and interact appropriately with cross-functional personnel.
  • Excellent customer relationship building skills and ability to work cross-functionally and culturally.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills are required.

Working Conditions

  • Remains in a stationary position 50% of the time and involves additional physical demands such as ascending/descending stairs, walking stooping and standing.
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment 'PPE' when working/visiting manufacturing and plant locations.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery including but not limited to printer, tablets, cell phones.
  • Moves transports, puts, or removes equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.; pushes, pulls products weighing up to 200 lbs. using provided safety tools.
  • May be exposed to varying weather during travel.
  • Travel required approximately 60%.
