About The Salvation Army

Our Adult Rehabilitation Centers provide a holistic recovery program addressing the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of individuals seeking freedom from substance use and life challenges.

Position Overview

The Director of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) provides leadership and oversight for the rehabilitation program at the Kansas City Adult Rehabilitation Center. This role is responsible for ensuring effective program delivery, staff development, and spiritual engagement, while maintaining alignment with The Salvation Army’s mission and values. The DRS serves as a key leader in fostering an environment of restoration, discipleship, and transformation for individuals in recovery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Leadership & Oversight
    • Provide strategic direction and daily oversight of the rehabilitation program
    • Ensure program effectiveness through ongoing evaluation, improvement, and compliance
    • Oversee individual and group counseling services, including crisis intervention as needed
    • Guide development and implementation of individualized rehabilitation plans
    • Spiritual & Holistic Care – Support the integration of Christian principles and spiritual growth within the program
    • Assess spiritual needs of program participants and facilitate appropriate support
    • Partner with Chaplain and leadership to promote discipleship opportunities
  • Staff Leadership & Development
    • Recruit, train, and supervise rehabilitation program staff
    • Provide ongoing coaching, accountability, and performance feedback
    • Ensure staff adherence to the ARC Program Manual and policies
  • Administration & Operations
    • Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and compliance with Salvation Army standards
    • Oversee program scheduling and staff utilization
    • Contribute to budget planning and monitor expenditures
  • Community Engagement
    • Build and maintain relationships with local agencies, churches, and community partners
    • Support referral networks and outreach efforts to expand program impact
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in social services or addiction recovery
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a supervisory or administrative role
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Preferred experience in a faith-based or nonprofit rehabilitation program
  • Background in substance use recovery or behavioral health services
