Job Summary

This position provides phlebotomy coverage for field services including all In-Office Phlebotomists and Patient Service Centers in assigned areas. This position collects patient samples by venipuncture ensuring specimen integrity by adhering to the laboratory’s procedures for specimen collection, handling, and processing.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • None.
Hours:
  • (Varies) Monday - Friday, during regular business hours for coverage
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Follows laboratory procedures for specimen collection and handling.
  • Enters patient data into the electronic lab information system or manually on a requisition.
  • Correctly identifies patients and accurately labels specimens.
  • Follows all established guidelines and adheres to company policies and procedures.
  • Pack and prepare samples for specimen shipment and/or transport.
  • Train personnel, as needed.
  • Communicates efficiently and timely with leadership to address and report all issues.
  • Flexibility to cover other client locations, as needed.
  • Submits all expenses timely and efficiently to management for processing.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Has flexibility for travel, as needed.
  • Possesses a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Has reliable transportation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent required.
  • 2 years of full-time phlebotomy experience required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to alternate between standing, sitting, and walking.
  • Frequent use of hands.
  • Must be able to talk and hear.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
