Position Information
Position: Arabic / Qur'anic Arabic Teacher
Location: RISE Academy, San Jose, California (in-person)
School Year: 2026-2027 (start in Fall 2026)
Grade Levels: Primarily Upper School (grades 6-11), with potential additional sections in elementary as needed
Employment Type: Part-time (hourly)
RISE Academy is seeking an Arabic / Qur'anic Arabic Teacher to join our teaching staff for the 2026-2027 school year. The primary teaching assignment will focus on upper school Arabic and Qur'anic Arabic. The ideal candidate is passionate about formal and classical Arabic, skilled at building strong language foundations, and committed to nurturing students academically, spiritually, and personally in a faith-based environment. The teaching commitment involved is a minimum of four 40-minute period / week.

Key Responsibilities
Instruction and Planning
  • Plan, develop, and implement lesson plans aligned with the school's instructional program; provide written evidence of preparation as required
  • Deliver instruction in Arabic and Qur'anic Arabic that builds proficiency in reading, writing, listening, speaking, vocabulary, and grammar
  • Develop engaging lessons that incorporate best practices in world language instruction, including structured practice, guided reading, and meaningful communication
  • Differentiate lessons to reflect accommodations for differences in student abilities and learning styles

Assessment, Data, and Student Support
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student progress through formal and informal measures and provide timely feedback
  • Use assessment data to reteach, remediate, enrich, and support mastery over time
  • Modify curricula and supports as needed for students with learning differences, including implementing accommodations aligned with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) when applicable
  • Complete required documentation for students participating in special programs as required by state and federal guidelines

Classroom Culture and Communication
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to active, successful learning and appropriate for students' physical, social, spiritual, and emotional development
  • Establish clear routines and effective behavior expectations that support a respectful and motivating learning environment
  • Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents/guardians, teachers, and administrators

Professional Responsibilities and School Community
  • Participate in staff professional development activities and collaborative planning
  • Abide by the staff handbook and all school policies, procedures, laws, and applicable regulations
  • Assist with school events and extracurricular activities as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications (Required)
  • Native or near-native Arabic proficiency, with strong command of formal Arabic and classical/Qur'anic Arabic
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction in Arabic, including age-appropriate pedagogy for language learning
  • Passion for the Arabic language and for teaching students to engage with formal and Qur'anic Arabic meaningfully
  • Commitment to holistic student development and creating a supportive, values-aligned classroom culture
  • Ability to differentiate instruction based on student needs
  • Strong classroom management and student engagement strategies
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Comfort using technology tools (email, internet, word processing, spreadsheets) and classroom equipment (computers, projectors, printers, etc.)
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment
  • Alignment with RISE Academy's mission and comfort working in a faith-based school environment

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Education, Arabic Language, Islamic Studies, Qur'anic Arabic, or a closely related field
  • Experience teaching Arabic in a formal setting (school, weekend school, or structured program)
  • Experience teaching middle school and/or high school students
  • Familiarity with proficiency-based language instruction, curriculum mapping, and structured assessment systems

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Ability to work in a classroom setting and move around campus as needed
  • Frequent use of a computer/keyboard and classroom technology
  • Occasional evening/weekend availability for school events may be required

Compensation
Compensation is based on teaching credentials, relevant experience, academic degrees, and certifications. Children of staff members may be eligible for tuition discounts.
