The Pozez JCC is a community connector, offering a variety of programs and services on the main campus, online and throughout Northern Virginia through its many partnerships. Quality programs and experiences, based on Jewish values, include early childhood education, after-school & day camps, social programs for families raising young children, J-Fit health & aquatics activities, adult learning and cultural programs, inclusion and disabilities services, community impact through volunteerism, and more. J-Fit Kids Club Lead Attendant (18+)
Department: Aquatics & Fitness
Reports To: Aquatics Director
Position Type: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Pay Rate: $15.00 per hour
Position Summary
The J-Fit Kids Club Lead Attendant is responsible for providing a safe, welcoming, and engaging childcare environment for children while their parents or guardians participate in fitness and wellness activities at the Pozez JCC of Northern Virginia. In addition to supervising children and leading activities, the Lead Attendant serves as the primary on-site staff member, overseeing daily operations, supporting junior attendants, and ensuring adherence to Kids Club policies and procedures.
Schedule
  • Saturdays: 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM
  • Sundays: 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM
  • Additional hours may be available during holidays and special events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervise children at all times to ensure a safe and positive environment.
  • Lead age-appropriate activities, games, crafts, and creative play.
  • Serve as the primary staff member responsible for daily Kids Club operations.
  • Provide guidance and support to Kids Club Attendants working during the shift.
  • Greet and interact professionally with parents, children, and members.
  • Ensure all check-in and check-out procedures are followed accurately.
  • Enforce Kids Club policies and behavior expectations.
  • Respond appropriately to accidents, injuries, or emergencies and complete required incident reports.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary childcare area.
  • Inspect toys and equipment regularly to ensure safety.
  • Communicate concerns regarding children, safety, staffing, or facility operations to the Aquatics Director.
  • Support holiday programming and family-centered events as needed.
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment that reflects the mission and values of the JCC.

Qualifications
Required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Reliable, punctual, and responsible.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and supervise others when needed.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work positively with children, families, members, and staff.

Preferred
  • Previous experience working with children in a childcare, camp, preschool, recreation, or similar setting.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience.
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification, or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.
  • Knowledge of age-appropriate games and activities for children.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and actively engage with children throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to children's needs and emergency situations.
