Job Summary:
AMSEC LLC, a subsidiary of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join their Newport News Shipbuilding team. The role involves developing and integrating system simulation frameworks, performance models, and software solutions while collaborating in an Agile environment with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
• Develops new and/or integrates existing system simulation frameworks, performance models and algorithms, threat models and command and control models.
• Simulates real-time operations and develops software that simulates behavior of systems.
• Develops integrates and uses advanced graphical user interfaces and visualization tools.
• Models operational environments, performs trade studies via computer simulation and recommends alternative architectures.
• Performs operational analysis and mission effectiveness analysis.
• As a Software Developer, you will have technical responsibilities involving the research, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance evolutions of the product development lifecycle for software solutions.
• These solutions may span web based applications, predictive simulation models, 3D spatial planning applications, advanced data analytics products, and virtual/mixed reality applications.
• Working in an Agile environment, you will work closely with a variety of roles including software developers, data analysts, subject matter experts, and customers to determine and implement best solutions.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor's Degree in related discipline and 0 years of relevant experience
• 4 years of modeling/simulation experience
• Successful completion from a Modeling and Simulation Apprenticeship Program
• US Citizenship Required for this Position
Preferred:
• Practical software development experience in one or more of the following: Java/C++, Front End Development (TypeScript/HTML/CSS/Angular/Bootstrap/D3.js), Back end Development (SQL/NoSQL/Node), Unity/C#
• Experience in agile software development methodologies such as Scrum
• Knowledge of modeling and simulation and discrete event simulation
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
