  • Rotating Day Shift (Continental)

The Electrical Pre-Apprenticesupportsthe installation and termination of conduit, wiring, cabling, electrical equipment, panels,sensorsandbasiccontrol componentsunder supervision. This roleassistswith theassemblyand fabrication of control panels and systems, including the installation of interlock wiring andparticipation inwiring verification and checkout activitiesin accordance withdrawings and procedures. TheElectricalPreApprentice also supports the testing of installed,repairedormodifiedequipment toverifyproper operation andassistswithidentifyingand ordering replacement equipment,partsand supplies.

RolesandResponsibilities

  • Assistwith the installation and termination ofconduit, wiring, cabling, electrical equipment, panels,sensorsand basic control components under the direction of a Journeyperson or Supervisor.

  • Performpreapprenticeshiplevelelectrical tasksin accordance withapplicable drawings,specificationsand work procedures.

  • Assistwith testing installed,repairedormodifiedelectrical equipment to verify proper operation and report findings tosupervision.

  • Support routine maintenance activities, including cleaning, lubrication and basic upkeep of electrical equipment asrequired.

  • Assistinidentifyingelectrical materials, tools and equipment requirements and support the preparation of materialtakeoffs.

  • Monitor electrical parts and materials usage and report any shortages,discrepanciesor material issues to supervision.

  • Participate in preventative and predictive maintenance planning byassistingwith schedule preparation and documentation under supervision.

  • Assistwith lockout/tagout (LOTO) and equipment isolation proceduresin accordance withcompany safety programs.

  • Safely use andmaintainbasic hand tools, powertoolsand electrical test equipment under supervision.

  • Ensure proper care,storageand basic inspection of assigned tools and equipment.

  • Maintainaccurateand complete records, logsand basic documentation related to work performed, maintenance activities and materials used.

  • Demonstrate readiness and commitment to meeting the requirements of an Electrical Apprenticeship program through Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT).

  • Activelyparticipateinonthejobtraining and mentorship opportunities to develop foundational electrical skills and prepare for progression into a registered apprenticeship.

  • Support quality control andinspectionreadiness by ensuring work meets drawings,specificationsand established standards.

  • Perform all dutiesin accordance withSilent-Aire safety program standards and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations and Code.

  • Other duties may be assigned asdeemednecessary.

Knowledge,SkillsandAbilities

  • Basic understanding of electrical fundamentals, including voltage, current,resistanceand simple circuits.

Working Conditions

  • Required to work in a manufacturing environment that may involve exposure to noise, moving machinery, varyingtemperaturesand other productionrelatedhazards.

  • Required to useappropriatepersonalprotective equipment(PPE)to prevent exposure to hazardous materialsand excessive noise levels in the workplace.

  • Must have the physicalability to lift and carry materials weighing up to35lbs.
