Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for providing skilled labor for Steelhaus business units and facilities. This role will be responsible for the performing maintenance in a safe manner, and to manufacturer specifications and recommendations to ensure equipment is operating as intended.


Duties and Responsibilities

General Maintenance

  • Troubleshoot and perform repairs to buildings, equipment, and systems.
    • CNC Machines (Mill, Lathe, Punch Press, Drill, etc.)
    • Air compressors
    • Material handling systems
  • Mechanical systems
  • Hydraulic systems
  • Electrical systems
  • General plumbing
  • Work with facility management to schedule repairs
  • Conduct necessary research and find answers independently.

Preventative Maintenance and troubleshooting

  • Perform complex inspections of internal components and assess future needs
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance activities, following manufacturers and internal instructions as required.
  • Improve equipment reliability
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing PM program
  • Identify root cause of equipment related issues and incorporate potential prevention measures as part of the PM schedule.
  • Maintain Log of issues, resolutions and completed work orders


General

  • Use electrical/electronic diagnostic equipment such as multi-meters, infrared scanning equipment and other tools as necessary for servicing applicable equipment.
  • Identify issues that cannot be resolved by internal resources and coordinate with alternative service providers to have these issues resolved.
  • Read diagrams, schematics, reports, and manuals
  • Use maintenance software

Other duties and responsibilities

  • Identify / report hazards and fulfill all Health & Safety, WHMIS, MSDS, and company policy requirements
  • While the job may primarily be during the day, working later in the day/evening and/or on weekends might be required depending on the urgency of the repair
  • Cleans and maintains work areas and shop equipment


Required Abilities, Knowledge, Experience

  • High School Diploma, GED and 3-5 years equivalent directly transferrable work experience (Manufacturing or Engineering discipline preferred).
  • Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program
  • Formal training or 2+ years of ventilation system maintenance experience
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic systems under 3000psi
  • Experience with air compressors, and compressed air systems
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and drawings (e.g., blueprints, manuals, wiring diagrams etc.)
  • Exhibit good time management skills and ability to prioritize workflow throughout the day.
  • Strong verbal and written English language communication skills.
  • 'Hands-on self-starter with ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Must be able to lift, up to 23 kg (50lbs)
  • Valid Class 5 drivers license and reliable transportation
