They typically work on commercial, industrial, and residential buildings to ensure proper fire protection systems are in place. As apprentices, they combine classroom instruction with hands-on training to gain the skills and knowledge required to become fully qualified sprinkler fitters. The apprenticeship usually lasts several years and includes learning about safety codes, system design, and proper installation techniques.

Is it hard to become a sprinkler fitter?

It requires physical fitness, the ability to work in confined spaces, and often a high school diploma or equivalent; some programs also require passing basic skills assessments. The process can be competitive, but with proper training and dedication, entry is achievable.
