Description

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer with education and experience to join the Engineering Team at one of our premier properties at the base of a world class ski resort: The Charter in Beaver Creek. The person in this role will be able to repair, maintain, install, and troubleshoot systems, machines, tools, and equipment for the purpose of providing well-maintained building, grounds, irrigation, and utility systems of the properties in order to ensure a satisfactory guest experience as well as keep the Association buildings in good condition, and to provide leadership and training to engineering staff regarding specific engineering projects. Duties Include:

  • Inspect and evaluate systems, machines, tools, and equipment such as heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, electrical systems to ensure proper functioning or identify current or potential problems
  • Make informed recommendations for changes or updates to systems, machines, tools, or equipment for the purposes of effectiveness, economy, or improved guest experience
  • Maintenance: Performing routine preventive maintenance in units, common areas, pools, fire systems, HVAC, refrigeration, restaurant equipment, electrical, plumbing, electronics (AV), restaurant equipment, and maintenance and installations for special projects
  • Repairs: Identify or respond to necessary repairs
  • Troubleshoot: Troubleshoot problems or necessary repairs using readily available materials and independent research to determine the cause of failure and determine the best solution for repair or replacement
  • Promptly address work orders from guests, owners, and staff.
  • Organize and maintain cleanliness in the workplace, storerooms, and ensure that tools are properly stored
  • Utilize Preventative Maintenance Software: Help lead team in further implementation and usage of preventative maintenance software to track maintenance on assets; assist team with usage and to track work in units.
  • Communication: Communicating with management, housekeeping, front desk, F&B, external contractors, and engineering staff regarding issues and status of projects

Minimum Requirements

Our ideal candidate brings both technical depth and real-world problem-solving instincts. You'll likely come from one of these backgrounds:

  • A bachelor's or associate degree in engineering, facilities maintenance, or a related field paired with hands-on maintenance experience;
  • A technical certificate from a trade school or college in facilities maintenance (or similar) with 3-6 years of progressive experience;
  • Or you are a licensed or apprentice plumber and/or HVAC technician with strong cross-systems exposure in building maintenance.

Beyond credentials, you bring:

  • Strong engineering aptitude: Solid understanding of mechanical systems, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and how they interact in a complex building environment
  • Systems thinking & analysis: Ability to evaluate building conditions, diagnose root causes, and recommend effective, long-term solutions-not just quick fixes
  • Self-directed problem solving: You spot issues early, take initiative, and move confidently from problem to resolution without needing step-by-step direction
