Service Technician Apprentice
AVL Test Systems, Inc. is hiring for a Service Technician Apprentice!
This is an exciting opportunity to grow your skills while supporting a fast-paced, collaborative team. As a Service Technician Apprentice, you will receive hands-on training across AVL systems and gain valuable, real-world experience in a variety of technical areas.
In this role, you'll contribute to multiple functions, including equipment repair, calibration, maintenance, and data entry-building a strong foundation in both electrical and mechanical systems. This position is ideal for someone eager to learn, develop technical expertise, and work in an innovative automotive environment.
What You'll Bring:
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, positive attitude
  • Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical repair
  • Experience or interest in automotive systems (preferred)
  • Experience with emissions testing and automotive applications (required)
  • Excellent attention to detail and a willingness to learn and grow

You'll be part of a dynamic, team-oriented environment where collaboration is key. The ability to work effectively with others and contribute to a supportive team culture is essential for success in this role.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Employer will not sponsor an applicant for a work visa for this position.
ROLES:
  • Calibrate, perform preventative and corrective maintenance of AVL equipment.
  • Able to wire control devices and verify operation.
  • Assists in the evaluation and repair of AVL equipment.
  • Assists in test equipment installation, configuration, maintenance and calibration.
  • Actively participate in developing one's own training plan and exhibit ownership in completing training.
  • Provide feedback of troubleshooting guides and continuous improvement methods to increase operating equipment effectiveness (O.E.E.).
  • Record and document calibrations, diagnostic and performance test results, records maintenance activities, and documents while accurately maintaining shift logs.
  • Professional and timely submittal of timesheets, calibration reports, and other administrative responsibilities.
  • Complete all applicable safety training.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
  • Basic electronic or precision mechanical assembly knowledge
  • Knowledge and use of fine mechanical hand tools
  • Ability to diagnose problems with simple systems
  • Basic knowledge of personal computer hardware and software
