Job Title: Lead Electrician

Location: Manalapan, NJ

Pay: $35-$50 an hour

Job Description

This role seeks an experienced Lead Electrician, Sub-Foreman, or Foreman with 10–15 years of commercial or industrial electrical construction experience. You will oversee daily electrical installations, lead field crews, coordinate closely with project management, ensure strict safety compliance, and deliver high-quality electrical work on schedule across a variety of large-scale projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise electrical field crews ranging from 3 to 15 electricians and apprentices on commercial and industrial construction sites.
  • Plan daily work activities, organize tasks, and delegate responsibilities to ensure efficient use of labor and materials.
  • Perform and oversee commercial and industrial electrical installations, including power distribution, lighting, controls, switchgear, and transformers.
  • Execute and supervise conduit installation and bending (EMT, RMC, PVC) and ensure proper cable pulling and terminations.
  • Interpret and work from construction blueprints, electrical drawings, and one-line diagrams to plan layout and installation.
  • Coordinate jobsite activities with superintendents, project management teams, and other trades to maintain schedules and resolve conflicts.
  • Manage material needs, including ordering, tracking, and staging to keep projects moving efficiently and minimize downtime.
  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and company safety policies, acting as a safety leader on site.
  • Conduct quality control inspections on electrical installations to verify compliance with codes, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems and wiring issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
  • Maintain clear, professional communication with project stakeholders, including field crews, management, and other trade partners.
  • Mentor and develop apprentices and junior electricians, providing guidance, training, and feedback to support their growth.
  • Support general labor and construction activities as needed to keep projects on schedule in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Essential Skills

  • 10–15+ years of commercial or industrial electrical construction experience.
  • Proven experience as a Foreman, Sub-Foreman, Lead Electrician, or in a similar leadership role in electrical construction.
  • Strong commercial and industrial electrical installation skills, including power distribution, lighting, controls, switchgear, and transformers.
  • Advanced conduit installation and bending abilities (EMT, RMC, PVC).
  • Proficiency in cable pulling and terminations for a variety of voltage levels.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction plans, specifications, and one-line electrical diagrams.
  • Experience working on large commercial, healthcare, manufacturing, data center, multi-family, or institutional projects.
  • Solid understanding of OSHA standards and lockout/tagout procedures and the ability to apply them consistently on site.
  • Demonstrated capability to lead and supervise teams of electricians and apprentices, including task delegation and productivity management.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with crews, project management, and other trades.
  • Effective problem-solving skills to address installation challenges, scheduling issues, and technical troubleshooting.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel to various job sites.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $48.00/hr.
