Job description

Leidos Mechanical Manufacturing is seeking a CNC Machinist Apprentice to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems.

Apprentices will learn the following skill sets during the program:

  • Part Layout prior to machining

  • Setup and operate manual milling machines.

  • Setup and operate manual lathe machines.

  • Setup and program, operate CNC Mill and Lathes

  • Conduct general housekeeping and maintenance.

Primary Responsibilities:

Leidos Mechanical Manufacturing Apprenticeship is a competency-based program. During the apprenticeship, the apprentice shall receive work experience and job-related education in all phases of the occupation, including safe work practices, necessary to develop the skill and proficiency of a skilled professional.

  • The term of the apprenticeship is 36 competencies, supplemented by the 1,530 total hours of related instruction, resulting in 2 MTT certificates.

  • Apprentices will attend college work instruction during Non-Work/Non-Paid Hours. Tuition and books are covered by Dynetics last-dollar scholarship.

  • Apprentices shall be paid a progressively increasing schedule of wages as apprentices attainproficiency in competencies.

  • Completion of program is 2 years or less based on competencycompletions.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Applicant must have a high school diploma, General Education Development (GED) equivalency.

  • In addition to the apprenticeship application, applicants must complete an application to the Community College training provider and be granted admission into the training program.

  • Ability to understand and carry out general instructions.

  • Applicant must be able to work 2nd shift - hours may vary based on school schedule.

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess or meet the eligibility to obtain (and be able to maintain) a Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

Completion of high school technical trade school is a plus.
