Bertke Electric Co. has been delivering top-notch electrical services to the Greater Cincinnati area since 1928. We've had the privilege of contributing to some of Cincinnati's landmark buildings, including the Hyatt Regency, Adams Landing, U.C. Geology and Physics Building, Riverbend Music Center, Kroger's Headquarters, and numerous grocery stores, retail stores, and small office build-outs. Specializing in electrical service work, we maintain and repair electrical equipment, offer infrared/thermal imaging, arc flash studies, and arc flash training. Our commitment to training and the safety of our employees is paramount.
Position Summary:
The Apprentice is responsible for assisting journeyman electricians in planning, installing, and repairing electrical systems. This position performs maintenance tasks, troubleshoot electrical issues, and learns how to safely handle electrical equipment and tools. The apprentice will receive on-the-job training and are required to be enrolled in a classroom-based apprenticeship program to enhance their knowledge and skills in the electrical trade.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Learn from journeyman electricians to perform the installation of electrical systems, wiring, lighting, and equipment according to local and national electrical codes.
  • Participate in conducting routine maintenance of electrical systems to ensure they are in proper working condition. This may include supporting troubleshooting, repairs, and replacements.
  • Learn to interpret and follow electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to plan and execute installations accurately.
  • Using testing devices to check the functionality of electrical systems, identify faults, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Participate in inspections as required.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Identify and mitigate potential electrical hazards.
  • Stay updated on local and national electrical codes and regulations. Ensure all work meets the required standards.
  • Interact with clients to understand their electrical needs, provide recommendations, and address any concerns.
  • Participate in diagnosing electrical issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring safety standards are followed.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed.
  • Attend training sessions, workshops, and educational classes to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Travel to job sites in the Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana area.
