Since 2005, Ellis Fire Suppression has delivered "Excellence in Fire Protection" from its Woburn, MA, location. What began with water-based fire sprinkler construction and service has grown into a full-service fire protection operation offering in-house design, fabrication, estimating, 24/7 emergency response, fire alarm, chemical and special hazard systems, life safety systems, and fire extinguisher services throughout New England. Due to continued growth, we are looking to add a Fire Alarm Apprentice to our Woburn, MA team. This role is responsible for the installation, programming, maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of fire alarm systems in commercial and residential buildings while ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulations. Success in this role requires technical expertise, strong troubleshooting skills, effective customer service, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Install and program fire alarm systems, including panels, sensors, and related components.
  • Perform routine maintenance and testing of fire alarm systems to ensure proper operation.
  • Conduct thorough inspections to identify and resolve fire alarm system issues and potential deficiencies.
  • Troubleshoot and repair faulty fire alarm systems and components.
  • Ensure fire alarm systems comply with applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, and repairs.
  • Provide professional customer service by answering questions and addressing fire-safety concerns.
  • Respond to emergency service requests in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical documents, and system specifications.
  • Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Valid Fire Alarm Technician license as required by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • At least two years of experience installing, maintaining, and repairing fire alarm systems.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of fire alarm systems and components.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools used in the trade.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to following established safety procedures and requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
  • Lift and carry equipment, tools, and system components.
  • Climb ladders and work at heights.
  • Work in confined spaces when required.

COMPENSATION
The wage for this role is $20 to $25 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
