Description Apprentice Technician Classification: Apprentice Technician Location: Bomnin GMC Buick Cadillac Chevrolet Nanuet Reports To: Service Manager Job Summary: The Apprentice Technician role is designed for individuals who are either currently enrolled in or have recently graduated from a technical school and have little to no prior work experience in the automotive industry. This position provides hands-on training under the supervision of experienced technicians while working towards OEM certifications and mastery of essential automotive repair and maintenance skills. Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Assist experienced technicians in performing vehicle repairs and maintenance services in accordance with OEM standards.
  • Learn and develop diagnostic skills to accurately identify vehicle issues.
  • Perform basic services, including oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and battery replacements.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA and dealership policies.
  • Complete assigned training and obtain necessary OEM certifications as required.
  • Follow dealership and manufacturer guidelines for documentation and repair order processing.
  • Uphold high-quality workmanship and customer satisfaction standards.
  • Adhere to safety procedures and use proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
Position Requirements Qualifications & Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Enrolled in or recently completed an accredited automotive technical program.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • Basic understanding of automotive tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Physical Demands:
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, and reaching.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity to operate tools, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Requires full range of motion, including working in tight spaces and underneath vehicles.
  • Exposure to loud noises, fumes, and potentially hazardous materials; proper PPE required.
Work Environment:
  • Work is performed in a dealership service department with exposure to mechanical equipment, chemicals, and varying temperatures.
  • Fast-paced environment with a focus on safety and efficiency.
  • Requires teamwork and adaptability to changing workloads and schedules.
